Tiered Pricing Coming to Walt Disney World

So it begins...

Price increases from tomorrow and 3x tiers of value, regular and peak periods. Tickets for Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios will remain cheaper by about $10 on all days. Doesn't affect multi day tickets or season passes as yet.

I am going to get crap; but I am happy that Tiered pricing is finally hitting some of the larger Theme parks, as it could be in a good benefit for WDW in many reasons.

As a note; this will take into affect at DLR aswell.

Well if you think about it no increase keeps the prices cheaper than Uni, so in reality it is pretty decent value.

I think this is good. But I don't think it will have a huge impact since it is one day tickets which less people get.

On a side note no crazy ride closures on non-peak days so that is good. Because I thought that was insane.

$300.00 per day would probably reduce the crowds by 10-20%. I'm not joking.

Had a friend who was exiled to that ticket window for a while. Short answer: yes. 90%+ of walk-ups buy 1-day tickets (even when CM tries to explain how they could save with a multi-day ticket).

Most people on online theme park boards, yes. Never forget, we're in the top 1% of knowledgeable guests just by being here. Check out the crowds any given morning at any given park.

At my regional theme park experience I say only a quarter buy ahead of time. And those people are more likely to arrive well after opening. I'm willing to bet the amount of people who buy Disney tickets prior to setting foot on property is pretty low (including those who get to a Disney resort then buy admission). Disney and Universal are trying to get more and more guests to buy online as it frees up congestion and reduces staffing.

I absolutely will enjoy the mess that comes from this....right now its one day soon it will be multi day and you will have people rushing on certain days to capture their 4 day hopper passes before the prices surge upwards.

Good point. Don't assume the general park tourist knows what we know.I remember the first time I went to WDW & Universal in 2003 or 2004 (Can't remember the exact year, but they were soft opening Mummy). I had only been to the Regional Parks (A zillion times before) and I did the same thing I did there. I bought single day tickets each time I went. I hadn't yet been educated through these kinds of sites on the ins & outs of the theme park world.

Based on how fast passes are gone for certain rides before non-on site guests can get to them tells you most on site guests purchase in advance. Everybody that I know that comes down without me prompting them buys their tickets in advance except my sister and that is because we never know which parks we will go to with her. Local theme parks are way different than Disney. Also keep in mind on site guests get magic bands in the mail and people want to be all set up before they get there with dinner reservations and everything.
