I think that everyone even if they want to keep Jaws or not has to agree that it is not as exciting as it was back in the day. We now have things like Mummy and Rockit' to give us the thrill and excitement that Jaws once did. Even for people who do not visit the park often feel that it is lacking something. If Universal closes it and really gives it a fresh new look with something to make it more exciting would be great. A good idea in my opinion would be to have multiple Jaws in one place so that way you have no idea where he is going to come from. It would the ride more exciting even for people who visit often because you would always be wondering when and where you would see him.

Doing what you suggest is a fairly large monitary investment with a fairly small payoff. In other words, it's not something they could really market in this industry and get people in the gate with. It's just a nice plus. I think the best we can hope for is the maintenance budget to continue at Jaws to at least allow the ride to operate as it is currently designed to do so. Any hope for additions is not even on the books of consideration.

Mmm hmm. Saw that for the first and only time yesterday, and only watched it as a technology reference for another show I'm working on. In my opinion, the Turtle Talk parts of the show were absolutely wonderful. The problem is they were about two minutes of the twenty minute show. The rest was just another inane castle skip-n-wave show with break dancing power rangers that one is supposed to be believe are robots?

Awful show. No surprise. Turtle Talk technology is still brilliant though. No surprise there either.

Hahahaha, I did that one. It was a bit ridiculous, but most abbreviations are simple when you think about them for a second and the context.

Jaws isn't going anywhere. I don't know why people insist that it is. What the hell are they going to put in Amity?

It's Neutron, the contract is expiring next year, and it's very outdated. Can't think of any cool kids shows to replace it though.

I really wish they'd put a DBZ ride in Neutron's place, hehehe.

Ya i would actually be glad to see Jimmy Neutron go its cool but gets very boring and I cant think of anything to go with DBZ unless you are viewing it from the eyes of a saiyan which would be weird . I guess you could be in a flying car in a city in the middle of a battle that would be alright I think they could also make something to go with Fast and Furious since they didn't do that with the BTTF ride but who knows.

No offense, but this entire topic is kind of silly and overly negative. Why assume something *has to close* anyway? I'm just sort of surprised at how many people are jumping in to assume as such

This is my favorite post in this whole thread. It seems so sensible compared to some others, such as the post Chris quoted. It suggests that T2 become Terminator Salvation. How in the hell would that extend the life of the attraction? Because Salvation is newer? It's also a much, much worse movie.

I also don't know why people point to Jaws and ET as being the next to go. The judgment on whether or not an attraction should be closed should not be based upon how old its franchise is. That's ridiculous. It should be decided by the quality of the attraction. Jaws is one of the greatest films of all time. Its ride is fun and interactive and has a very human element. Just what do people think would replace it? I guarrantee most of the people who want it gone would complain about its replacement. What if a motion simulator replaced it? Surely people would complain. USF is just not gonna plunk down more money for some kind of big, explosive attraction in that spot. And they shouldn't Jaws is fine.

Here are the facts. Some rides may be based upon older films and may be showing their age. But Universal should follow Disney's lead and just give these things heavy refurbs. Treat the attractions well. They do not need to replace anything right now. This impulsive need for something new should be satisfied by Rockin' Rocket. IOA will have Harry Potter opening soon, which will be huge. There's no reason to screw with Universal's history.

Besides, if anything goes, it should be Twister. That and Fear Factor.

In many occasions I don't think it is due to old age that Jaws should leave but due to lack of entertainment. I like the exploding barge and the final fire fight. The rest of the ride just doesn’t cut it. Which is why I would not mind seeing it gone. I would not mind a simulator. They are a lot of fun. Not new or innovative at all but really fun, but I would take Simpsons and Star Tours any day over Jaws. Fear Factor is almost gone so Universal took care of that for everyone.

Then Jaws should be updated, not removed. It can be reworked in some manner like they did years ago.

I think that ET should go. It is a huge building that could accomodate a awesome attraction. While ET is a classic movie the ride is just outdated and boring. Plus they have more land behind it so they could always expand the building and make it even bigger. I know some people like this attraction but whenever i go there is no one in line.

I also agree and think that Jaws should be updated not removed. They could posably add more effects and change it around a little. They do have some space there to make it bigger. I think that the ride is a lot of fun and i know they will not take it away. But i am totally for replacing jimmy neutron with something more up to date.

ET should have left a long time ago. It is my least favorite thing in the park. Most kids today have never even seen ET. It is a classic, but the target audience who recognizes it as that is long gone.

I believe Jaws will be the next major ride to go. It is VERY expensive to keep running.

I would like to see twister, go. It will probably be jaws though, which would not be a bad idea. ET would be the one the i would be most dissapointed if replaced, but im sure its time is running out too.

Let's hear some suggestions on what would replace these classic attractions then (I know I'm gonna regret asking though). Keep in mind, it'd be nice to see some actual Universal properties.

This is a tough call. I really don't see JAWS or ET going anywhere soon because they're true classics and Universal wouldn't be the same without them. I would like to see some effort put into improving the whole movie aspect of the park, perhaps something new in Production Central.

I think there def. needs to be a Transformers dark ride that could replace ET. I dont hate the idea of Twister, i just hate what was done with it that ride needs a facelift badly. And.... idk how about a Hellboy or Fast and furious.

Thinking of what came out this year for Universal is Land of the Lost, Public Enemies, and Bruno. Land of the Lost flopped, Public Enemies is going down as a love it or hate it movie but in terms of rides a classic gangster attraction could be awesome. Bruno should be awesome but I think that the only thing that they could do with that is have it be like Turtle Talk with Bruno.

A Transformers ride would be freakin awsome. I wouldn't mind seeing ET go though, sadly it has gotten very boring.

By the time they get to Transformers, the public won't be into it anymore. Even Harry Potter when that opens. They'll be on the last movie by then, right? I hope people still have an appetite for it.
