I'm starting to think they've essentially announced the theme already. I can't confirm icon or anything, but they've mentioned "the past" and everything I've had confirmed for so far has not so strained connection to things in the past.

To say this, I was told Thing was a lock in Hollywood before I was shaken up of what I knew.

I would not be shocked if it's still locked.

A note on Halloween 2018, there really isn't a way I see this not coming. But if it does, I'm not so sure it would include content from the first two mazes. Possibly some minor stuff from the first but that's it. This new film is completely ignoring everything after the original film. Out of Cinemacon "The plot is that after Loomis shoots Michael he's recommitted into the institution and Laurie prepares for a day he may break out" Eventually he will and go after her granddaughter and there's a line with some teens that reference the reveal from Part 2 that Michael is her brother "Wasn't it her brother that killed all those people?" "It wasn't her brother, that's something people made up."

So yeah, including anything other than some nods to the original in the maze wouldn't really make sense with what they're doing with this film IMO.

Good. I really enjoyed all the stuff they did with the other Halloween films. Okay I enjoyed some of it. But it’s nice they’re giving themselves a fresh start with this movie.

I wouldn’t think the continuity of the Halloween franchise for the new film would stop them from building another Halloween house consisting of scenes from Halloween I, II, and the new Blumhouse sequels. In fact, the execs would love this since 2/3 of the house would be reused/recycled.
