Disney+

I feel like you skipped over the bigger news here that Rick Moranis is coming out of his retirement for this film. Disney must have shown him a really fat check! Also, this will not be on Disney plus but will indeed be a theatrical release.

Part of me really wonders what the hell they offered him to come back from retirement, especially considering how big his return to Cinema is. Especially if it's for Disney+.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Conrad is hearing more of Disney's intent to continue Solo in the form of a spinoff show for Disney+.

I mean... it said it in the tweet so I figured people would see it. It was sort of the headline.

My mistake on this... I read more into it and they are now saying this will be theatrical release. Was originally scheduled for Disney+.

He's said for years that he's been waiting for the right script and I hope that's a good sign for the project.

As someone in the past who's defended this service on here, I'm thinking unless I fall in love with the Marvel shows (which very well may happen) this isn't worth it for me. Hate to be that persona and not starting this debate, but Disney has reallyyyy tainted Star Wars for me, so I just can't finish The Mandalorian at the moment, and while tehcnologically impressive, I was not feeling connected to it. Other than that its the Disney Vault, which I knew it would be, but I'm just not feeling the need to re-watch these things a ton. Now that I have re-watched some, okay? What's next? Im quickly realizing the only draw here for myself is Marvel and Star Wars. These Marvel shows I'm hoping are terrific so I don't feel the need to cancel the service. But for the price, this isn't justified imo.

I think the price is incredibly cheap since you can get it for one month and then cancel.

Creatives aren't liking the creative restrictions of Disney+ so far. High Fidelity made the move from D+ to Hulu and now "Love, Simon" spin-off "Love, Victor" got moved to Hulu for not being family friendly enough (although sexual exploration is really the only stated reason, which is pretty damn weak). Lizzie McGuire Season 3 is having issues as well with many involved hoping for a move to Hulu.

Not usually one to say things like this, but, is Love, Victor only on Hulu because he's gay? I mean, its not like they're going to show him looking at gay porn to realize he's gay. What is the difference between that, and any other kid shows that find people dating? Happens all the time on Disney shows. I don't understand this and only feel its "adult" content because its themed around a gay guy. Maybe I'm being a little too harsh on this, but pathetic move if true. If anything Disney should be on the forefront of pushing this issue and getting our younger men out there to feel more comfortable with themselves, no matter the sexuality. Ugh. Also a gay man myself if any of that matters, I find it extremely annoying, and a tiny bit offensive. I think it'd be amazing for younger kids to see a show like that, it'd likely do wonders for them.

There was a gay couple in the High School Musical series so it can't be just because he's gay. The official word i've heard is "Alcohol Use and Sexual Exploration". Idk, maybe the show went in a bit more risque direction than originally expected like High Fidelity? I think it's probably more because the main character is gay and "exploring sexuality", which is disappointing. Especially considering the way that the Diary of a Future President show on D+ takes aim at puberty through the eyes of heterosexual characters.

Haven't seen the HSM show but thats good to hear, and I have heard there's some Disney channel so in the last few years that had a coming out scene. If alcohol and stuff like that is included than I mean I guess I understand, but idk what's different about exploring his sexuality than a guy/girl having a crush on any guy/girl in any season of any Disney show. I understand realizing your sexuality is different from others is of course a much bigger undertaking, but it'd just be great to see something like that in the spotlight. Shame. Honestly I've said it before but D+ has gotta kill it for me with Marvel or I for sure will not be renewing next year, decisions like this frankly just leave a bad stain in my mouth.

Like I said though, there's a show with new episodes still airing that is basically from a heterosexual POV and goes very in depth on both male and female puberty (talking full episodes/story arcs that revolve around a girl getting her period). And her older brother getting the sex talk and even briefly touching on masturbation. Moving this to Hulu because the character is gay seems to be a very weak move imo.

Also, alcohol use is all over the place on Disney+. Even underage alcohol use, which is used heavily in Marvel's Runaway's (which I recommend if you haven't seen it).

Runaway’s I’ve heard mixed on, but I am tempted to give it a try. So ya it seems it’s being moved because of the fact he’s gay. Hard for me to support this service honestly

Runaway's goes downhill a bit in Season 3, but it's one of those shows that I binged my way through over the course of a weekend. It got me hooked.

Seems when Disney ordered Love, Victor, they wanted something like this...

Ya honestly lol. To be fair, Love, Simon was definitely somewhat like this hahaha. Still, need more mainstream things regarding this subject. Representation matters.
