2023 was always a pretty optimistic timeline... site development takes a looooooong time. And Beijing took five years* from groundbreaking and was originally announced to open in 2019-20.

*If it actually opens in 2021.

Yes I made the decision even before this craziness but now I guess it has to be a sure thing. Hollywood here I come.

I’ll still be waiting for Donkey Kong though :sadwave:

Heads up. The county has reached out to me and asked that I take down the recent permit image, saying it is exempt from public requests and should not have been issued.

Please do not share the image on the internet, and especially not here on the forum. I have removed it where I posted it as best as I can remember. Thanks.

So that is what it was. You got the permit, posted a story and Universal got mad enough at the county for leaking it that they pulled the whole project? ;) Yeah I know they say delayed but....... some of those people worked for WDW and we all know what TDO considers "temporary" "seasonal" "delayed" sometimes. Way to go you influencer!:peace::grin::grin::bolt:

To be clear, I don't think this had anything to do with Universal. It seems like the document was issued without redacting confidential material, most likely related to emegency response plans, which is exempt from public record requests.

That would make sense. Emergency response plans, for security reasons, needs to stay confidential.

It was never precisely said when it would open in 2023 Right, just 2023? If so, then it could still very much open in 2023.

I mean, we had to wait six years for Avatar. Californians had to wait 12 years for a Test Track system ride to come to DCA, 16 years for a trackless ride. Heck, there should have been Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast rides in the 90s.

Theme park fans sure have to do a lot of waiting.

Was anyone really waiting for Avatar though?

As a Californian who had ridden Test Track, we weren't really waiting for one. I mean, Test Track isn't that great, IMO. When we did get Radiator Springs Racers, we realized even more what was wrong with Test Track. The ride system isn't really why RSR is so good.

Yeah, I don't think people were really clamoring for another slot car ride at the time. That said, Cali without a doubt got a far better ride with RSR, as it's downright delightful from beginning to end.

As for EU getting delayed, had a feeling it would happen at some point, but a year delay isn't bad at all. Though I will admit, I'm curious how some people (not on here), are equating a year delay to "It may not happen this decade...", or it may be largely cancelled. It's like they're acting as if Uni stopped construction completely when this whole thing began...I think they're getting their wires crossed with somewhere a little southwest.
