If Universal is going to use that I'm all in to experience it. I'm sure it will be mainstream in about 5 -10 years (VR glasses + computer power + software (minus motion, smell, wind, theming)) but until than it's going to be a unique experience.

Like projection and screens which are readily available and able to be put in a home theater...It will all depend on the implementation on the attraction, which is basically what I think you're saying

Little birdie landed on my windowsill in Pittsburgh and me told me I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed, and I was looking kinda dumb for thinking P331 is for FFL.

This has me thinking this attraction will end up looking dated real quick if it’s primarily VR.

It should be easy to update it as the years go by, to any significant tech upgrades.

I know people in general are not psyched about the tech in this proposed attraction, but is there any reason this couldn’t be as good as Flight of Passage? Is the video in the VR going to look worse?

There’s no way this will even be close to FoP. I’d enjoy FoP way less if I had to strap a VR set to me noggin’.

The question comes down to interactivity, visuals, and "the whole package". I just think people have a bad taste with projection tech in USF that's clouding their judgment here.

Counter point: some of us never thought Flight of Passage was good. So. ;)

You can look down and see you're on a broom and not see the ride system around you.

Depends on what you're looking for in an attraction. I have every expectation that plenty of people will love this, and I have every expectation that plenty of people will think it's better than Flight of Passage.

As for the video quality, I suspect it will look like the projected media in Universal's other Potter attractions: good enough. I would be surprised if they're able to create as impressive an image quality as Flight of Passage (or Bourne Stuntacular, frankly), simply because the medium is going to be a tiny screen right in front of your face, not a massive surface, and there will be some amount of real-time rendering necessary (if it's to be as interactive as expected).

Hey, now, I wasn't enthused about the concept even when it was still slated for Epic Universe!

I think there's a difference between "clouding judgment" and simply having preferences.

What I get from this is more motion sickness for me at UOR. We'll see how this goes. I made it through The Void though! (But tossed the headset off me halfway thru Kraken VR..)

People don't want to strap a VR deal to their head, but will put a dozen sets of 3d glasses on and are excited for whatever you consider the MK headset. I don't see much difference really.

I'm also not that excited about the ride. It's really the only way they could do it though to make it interactive though, so I'm curious to see what they do with it.

I’ve never tried a VR headset but the idea of using one on a coaster makes me feel sick.

In my mind, I think any movement on this won’t really move your head, which should make for a more pleasant experience.

Kraken VR is the only time I’ve EVER had motion sickness on an attraction in my life. They never got it synchronized well enough.

Universal had patented technologies just for reducing motion sickness in VR by making accurate to your body and not just the headset.

I wouldn't want to move around but it is like having a 10 foot computer screen strapped to your face. Typical browser operation with the controllers. Typing is clunky but it is quite the experience.
I have no idea how to play games with it though.
