Wait is the woodlands scarezone right next to the camp site scarezone because now basically both look as if they are 1 giant scarezone instead of 2 separate ones

They're two separate ones. People roles specify they're in either one area or another.

Ok. I just got done watching "An American Werewolf In London". I know others enjoy this movie and I'm not here to **** on your opinions of the movie. However, I thought this movie was incredibly boring from start to finish. Yes, the transformation scene was good, but it took forever to get to. For a werewolf movie, I think the "werewolf" was used for all of 15-20 minutes of this movie. The rest was a guy in a hospital bed with bizarre nightmares and being haunted by his friend, male ass shots and watching porno at Picadilli Square. Seriously, if I didn't know any better, I'd think this was a soft core pornonabout a werewolf. Plus the movie ends so abruptly that its jarring. I was looking forward to this house because of the hype the HHN Community has been giving it, but I think this house is going to suck big time. Could anyone explain what I missed in this movie that is going to make this a good house? Why do you like the movie?

Why did you need to post the same thing in two different threads?

1. The long time it took to get to the transformation scene is something called "build-up"...horror doesn't exist without a proper build-up of anticipation to the 'scary' scenes. In that amount of time, we also learn about our characters, and the film allows them to develop so we care about them by the end.

2. The hospital bed scenes are also necessary; a werewolf tearing :censored: up the whole movie would get boring (see Transformers 2,3). Again, we've now seen the darker side to our character, we explore his psyche, we see what makes him tick, and how his transformation has changed him more than physically. The movie isn't just a blood and guts romp, it studies the character, all wrapped up in a comedic horror film which adds to its enjoyment. It's a classic for blending so many genre elements so seamlessly.

3. I'm not sure what about this seemed like softcore porn to you...there is a bit of nudity, but what horror movie doesn't?

4. The abrupt ending adds to the humor and offbeat nature of it all.

5. People are excited for the house because Universal has wanted to do a house based on this movie for a long time; so we pretty much know their hearts will be in it which usually makes for a good project.

6. People like the movie because, like I said, it's impossible to categorize. Monster flicks are a dime a dozen these days. AWIL adds character development, thus becoming somewhat humane and therefore more relatable to the audience. The comic elements also give a unique element not often seen in movies of its kind. It's just a very unique film that has not yet been matched in its ability to pull off the blending of several genres.

AWIL came out in the early 80s and was ground breaking at the time. I too went back and watched it, and while it wasn't as scary as I remember (seeing it as a kid), there was tons of suspenseful moments. AWIL actually has a plot and has to build on it to make it work. The overall transformation both mentally and physically I thought was done extremely well. Seeing him deal with the transformation mentally was equally as cool as the physical part (IMO). Most horror films today (not all) really on just the physical aspect where its all about a villain capturing people and just torturing them, or lets make a horror movie and just throw in as much gratuitous blood as we can (again not all I know there are exceptions). Thats just not my cup of tea. To give you perspective on my opinion and why I like AWIL, I loved the original Evil Dead, but hated the new release of it.

Plus what Tyler said more eloquently than I did :)

For not liking movie?
I, for one, agree that it was not a great movie and fail to what is appealing about being a house.
Now... time will tell if my opinion changes and I enjoy the house, but for the moment I just don't see it.

So you can ban me as well, as a matter of fact why haven't I been banned yet for not liking 95% of HHNs this year.

I will say that despite the merits of the film itself, I am curious as to how it will succesfully translate into a house. I have faith because of the passion behind the project, but AWIL is less a horror film and more an exercise in turning the horror genre on its head. There are few scenes aside from the Picadilly rampage and the transformation scenes that could be traditionally considered scary, and even then they look like theyd be hard to pull off. Turning AWIL into a house would be akin to turning The Fly into a house...movies with horror elements arent the same as horror movies. But I know A&D knows what theyre doing.

Since this is A&D's passion project that they've tried to do for a long time, I think we can expect the best. The Thing: Assimilation was one of their passion projects, and it ended up being one of my favorite houses of all time. And I've been going since 98'.

EDIT: Whoops, sorry BriMan.

I saw a new HHN billboard about an hour ago (no picture sadly). It was fairly generic, as I expected. There was a "root" on the side with "Halloween Horror Nights 23" in the center. Evil Dead, Cabin in the Woods, and The Walking Dead logos were all shown on it as well.
