HHN Drink Changes

We were hassled 3 times last night by Universal Security/OPD for standing there with a drink in our hands. No drunken behavior, loud talking etc. Literally just standing there with a drink. And repeatedly hassled. I have only used one day off my Frequent Fear Pass. We were planning on also attending Wednesday and Thurs, and next weekend.

I will be skipping the rest of the event because of Universal Security.

Man that sucks.

File a complaint and ask good a refund.
At least it gives you more time to use your shiny new silver pass ;)

Hassled how? What exactly did they say and question you about?
A Universal Security Guard with a big muscley OPD Ofc. would approach my daughter and her friend (both 21 years old). Demanding to see an ID. While the girls are looking in their purse for their ID, Officer RoidRage puffed up real big and while towering over the girls said to them "Just so you know, I am an OPD officer, and if you are lying, you should just tell me now! It will just be easier on everyone."

Anyway, the girls produced their ID's. The cop was non-plusses and basically said, "you guys are lucky, and don't let it happen again." Seriously, WTF.

Then it happened 2 more times. After the second time they stopped putting the ID's away and just stuck them in their pocket for easy access.

It was delightful. Over and over again.

I shouldn't have to deal with law enforcement 3 times just trying to have a beer. After the 3rd time, we just gave up and left. They had already sucked any semblance of fun right out of being there.

What happened to the wristband deal so the cops leave you alone?

I'm sure it was because my daughter and her friend are youngish looking, and I understand fighting under age drinking, but it was ridiculous and frustrating.
Don't feel bad. When we were at Slippery Rock Univ. for homecoming on Saturday, they carded Alene when we were going into the brew pub. She didn't have her license on her since we were just walking around the campus. I told the bouncers, heh it's kind of obvious she isn't under 21, but they wouldn't back off. So we had to walk to the car, get her purse & license, and then walk back down. Some people just have no common sense.

I had one of those this year at HHN enjoying a drink at the Simpsons stay and scream area, I in no way look underage. Asked for ID showed him my UK drivers license, he goes that isn't a US drivers license I will have to take that, um no you wont as its a UK license as it clearly states on it, fortunately he had an older partner who basically told him to stop being a dick as it was obvious I was of age and my license just from a different country.

Going back to kids at HHN for a second... all i'll say as a former scareactor at both HHN and HOS is that the under 18 crowd, while annoying, is typically more respectful than your average drunk, which are usually aplenty at these events. This year is no different either just because of drink changes.

I had a similar incident at a casino a while back. I keep an ID for my wife in my wallet in case we are out somewhere and she doesn't have her purse. So I give it to her and they stop her cause it's expired by a few months. She's 34, so it's not like she looks underage. They even say that if she was 35 they wouldn't even ask for an ID. lol I ask for a supervisor, figuring it's just a policy that the rank and file can't over rule. Well the super is a bigger hard ass than the regular guys. It's comical because he keeps saying its a posted policy, but it's clearly not posted anywhere. He got real salty when I pointed out that he was the bouncer at the casino bar and had let us in to drink at the bar just hours before this. Cause casino policy trumps state liquor laws I guess. It escalated to the point where he was threatening a have us tresspassed, but knew that he really couldn't. Our group just said screw it at this point and left.

Man, I have no clue what it means to be lucky that you’ve done nothing wrong. I understand you lot leaving!

Unfortunately, it happens everywhere. We have open container laws east of the intracostal. I was walking with a Diet Coke once when I heard “you need to through away that beer”, never expected someone was talking to me....was not nice when he raised his voice the 2nd time and I turned to try and figure out who he might be speaking at.....least it was a few years ago and I was not shot (like a def person was recently).

Oh, the price of freedom...why are they playing Warren Zevonn as a music bed in a cereal commercial. Oh sorry, way off topic...
