Reflecting NBCUniversal’s acquisition of DreamWorks Animation, Universal Studios Hollywood is converting the former Shrek 4-D attraction into the DreamWorks Theatre. It will host of repertoire of mini movies based on DreamWorks franchises and characters starting with Kung Fu Panda- The Emperor’s Quest.

Set to open in the summer, audiences will take a journey with the martial arts-savvy bear and face dragons, pirates, raging rapids, and other obstacles along the way. The screen-based attraction will be among the first to feature interior digital projection mapping, which should add dimension and make the visuals pop. To further immerse visitors into the story, their seats will move and be tricked out with pokers and other devices.

This seemed like the case for a while, glad to see confirmation that this is pretty much a flex-venue like Castle Theater.

By the time Shrek 5 happens (if ever), who’s to say Shrek 4D won’t be coming back? Don’t think they’re gonna make a new short for it if they already have one.

I have to think Dragons would be theoretically next.
Well, after they exhausted their other films (Panda, Dragon, Madagascar, Trolls, Boss Baby). Either they make them each one yearly, which is inconceivable (insert “I know that reference” post here), or have each one last as long as the audience wants it to.

Looking great!
Love the cohesive theme of all the recent buildings. If they end up making the lowerlot anywhere near as nice once finished we are in for a treat.
