In terms of closing the bar during lightning - there is absolutely no way Universal didn’t consider weather when building/designing.

The idea of shutting down a restaurant when a storm approaches is absurd. Having people leave their food / potential orders / drinks to take an elevator downstairs is not going to be the protocol for an afternoon thunderstorm.

I sincerely hope they considered this. Even if it means enclosing it with the same (tacky-ish) vinyl curtains used at Cowfish and RedOven. I've been in the middle of dinner at Pat O'Brien's back patio and had to move due to rain. Not fun, especially during a night when they're packed. The roof won't be enough. It does rain sideways in Florida lol.

Any chance of this opening its doors earlier than August 16th? It looks like it'll be finished in a month, which is so much more ideal than the up-to-the-minute Sapphire Falls opening, but seems like a good while to be sans guests. Don't remember how Cabana's first phase looked before opening.

Just drove by it. The last floor still needs windows and much of the ground around it is dirt. Add in internal work and it doesn't seem likely to open early.

It's not like a soft opening for a ride where anybody can just show up, people will have booked rooms months in advance. Having said that, they could open the hotel to the public with no rooms available to get the staff up and running plus the rooftop bar will be a huge hit and it will get the hype train going.

If they could open the bar early maybe it would clear out some of the bloggers before my stay for HHN.
