Solo: A Star Wars Story

As someone who liked Solo...

Good.

Exactly.

Solo would've been a great mini-series on the new Disney streaming platform. Then the Kessel run is just your pilot, and we can see a few other mini stories that helped shape the character. Should never have been a big budget summer release.

Yeah.

Star Wars, was never built to be a Shared Universe. And I am glad that they are going away from anthology films, and now focusing on trilogies more or less.

So going forward after IX, we have Rian's trilogy in development, and the Benioff/Weiss trilogies to look forward too. And, the L.A. Star Wars show and Animated projects for stories of that kind of caliber.
Gotta be a big time disappointment to Disney though. I'm betting they thought they could milk that franchise for blockbuster movies like they did with Marvel.

I’ve liked (Solo) and loved (the other 3) every new Star Wars movie that Disney have brought out, I genuinely don’t get the argument that ‘1 a year is too much’.
I lived through the dark times man, no new Star Wars for 16 years!!!
We’ve been absolutely spoilt these past few years, I hate that we might be moving away from that again because of internet grumblers who can’t accept that there won’t be a Star Wars movie as good as the one they saw when they were 8 years old.... BECAUSE THEY WERE 8 YEARS OLD!!!

Maybe, just maybe, people are tired of Star Wars because they have a different opinion than you and don't want to see a new Star Wars movie crammed down our throats every year. :eek:O:

Maybe, just maybe, just maybe, someone can disagree on something and still accept other people have their own differing opinions on it, yes, that is correct.

What does Solo add to the Star Wars universe that wasn't already explored in a previous film?

Weren't you the one that just said people who don't want a Star Wars movie every year are "internet grumblers who can’t accept that there won’t be a Star Wars movie as good as the one they saw when they were 8 years old"?

Maybe, just maybe I did. I can be critical of other people’s behaviour and their opinions whilst still ultimately accepting that they’re entitled to them. That’s discussion in a nutshell for ya.

Having a star wars movie every year is not a problem at all if the movies were GOOD.....
if these movies were excellent then we wouldn't have this problem, if the Last Jedi wasn't so weird and didn't have some many problems then people wouldn't be boycotting Solo.... there would not be any controversy.

Rian Johnson himself used to say that he didn't make movies that 100% of people would like, he didn't find joy in movies where everyone loved it, He preferred when 50% percent of the audience really hated his movies. he said that was the kind of movie he liked to make. Well.... that is certainly true for the Last Jedi.... that movie single handedly split the fanbase in half and made a lot of people angry. I am Not even talking about trolls or anything like that, I am talking about regular people that had such a huge problem with The Last Jedi that decided to not give Solo a chance.
\
Besides The Last Jedi is full of plot holes and contradictions, Rian Johnson destroyed all the questions that JJ had set up in Force awakens, he ruined Luke for a lot of people, Leia flying was mocked to high hell, Rose was named the new "jar jar binks" by so many people.... The Last Jedi was just a terrible terrible entry into this franchise. it rubbed SO many people the wrong way....

so yeah, if these were good movies, if these movies were really really enjoyable i do Not think for one second that we would be having a problem at all. a Yearly Star wars movie with likable characters and fun stories would definitely have been accepted by the public.

The difference with marvel is that marvel movies are not prequels or sequels to movies made 40 years ago. Rogue One was okay but the fact that you know what happens next kills any enthusiasm, Solo was not bad but you know where these characters are going to end up, so it is not a must see movie for a lot of people.
My favorite movie under disney was the Force awakens. I truly loved that movie. I loved all the questions set up by JJ, i was excited to see where the story went. I wanted to find out more about Rey, i was really excited for Luke. Then the Last Jedi was one of the biggest "wtf" moments at the theater for me.
I left that movie confused and frustrated and just annoyed. I honestly did not bother to see solo the first weeks it came out. it didnt look interesting.

I am also not interested in Boba Fett for a movie, I only wanted Obi wan, and to be honest I dont really care what happens to Rey or to Kylo anymore. I just dont care. Maybe if the trailer for episode 9 was amazing then I could care again, but after what happened to Luke and after seeing how they wasted Finn in these movies i just dont really care anymore"
the Last Jedi had plot holes big enough to fit a truck into... it was just very poor storytelling, You Do NOT take the work someone made and destroyed everything JJ set up, I dont care how much JJ says he liked the story for the Last Jedi, the movie does not follow the Force awakens well, they feel disjointed. and that's not even mentioning the truly awful "Casino planet" and the terrible and slowest space chase of all time...

I still definitely care about Marvel and I care about every single character in those movies. I still care to keep going with it.

Characters die in fiction.

Luke dying was not the problem. it was the way his personality was assassinated from the last time we saw him. They went from having luke risk his own life to save and redeem his father, to having luke wanting to murder a kid because he felt scared? his own nephew no less....
What was luke gonna tell Han and Leia if he killed him? "oops, sorry i killed your only kid, I had a bad feeling about him, he he" This movie is such a mess.....
even Mark Hamill completely 100% HATED what they did with Luke and has been very vocal about his anger and disbelief of what they did to Luke....
When your own star hates what you did... well, you got a problem there

Nobody takes those people seriously though.

well the point is, Rose might be the most hated human character in Star wars History. I can't think of anyone else that got this much hate since little Anakin. And at least little Anakin drove the ships and participated in the race. Rose did nothing of value in the movie.
And then not only was Rose really badly written but Solo adds the most hated robot in the history of star wars with L3 37. how does this even happen? does no one check these scripts? l3 37 turned off so many people from this movie..... even some the few people that went to see Solo and liked the movie couldn't believe how terrible this android was written.... whats going on over at Disney, why are they making these mistakes?
