I cringed when I heard about the first movie. Then I saw the trailer and was hooked. First movie did okay at the box office but the merchandising has done very well.

If this movie is more successful than the first one that definitely boosts the chances for seeing a Trolls attractions in the parks.

Continuing where the first film left off, it’s all glitter and happiness in Troll Town until Queen Poppy and Branch make a surprising discovery -- there are other Troll worlds beyond their own, each defined by a different genre of music. When a mysterious threat puts all the Trolls across the land in danger, Poppy, Branch, and their band of friends must embark on an epic quest through unfamiliar terrain to do the impossible: create harmony among the diverse Trolls to unite them against certain doom.

Set for release April 17, 2020, the film boasts an all-star cast that includes returning cast members Kendrick (Poppy), Timberlake (Branch), James Corden (Biggie), Caroline Hjelt (Chenille), Aino Jawo (Satin), Ron Funches (Cooper) and Kunal Nayyar (Guy Diamond), who are joined by recently announced Sam Rockwell, Chance the Rapper, Anthony Ramos, Karan Soni, Flula Borg and Jamie Dornan, who will voice new characters.

The film, which is produced by Gina Shay, directed by Walt Dohrn and co-directed by David P. Smith, follows in the footsteps of the first film, once again providing a musical showcase for original songs and re-recordings of classic favorites -- which are woven into the narrative of the film as story-telling elements. The all-new installment of the franchise expands the series’ music genres, representing a variety of songs from pop, country, and hip-hop, to hard rock, funk, K-pop and EDM -- as well as everything in between.

Justin Timberlake Confirmed to curate and design the soundtrack for the upcoming film. As stated before diverse music will be represented from Country, Blues, Jazz, R&B, Metal, Kpop (please no BTS), EDM, Rock, and more!

So the first ten minutes were shown at Annecy Animation festival as well as the trailer...
In the sequel, the trolls learn that they are only one of six tribes, each specialists in a different musical genre: Funk, country, techno, classical, pop and rock. They make an alliance to definitely a new enemy that has emerged.

The trailer that was shown didn't showcase any songs but the opening of the film was jammed pack according to those in attendance and considered fantastic and a lot of fun.

Conducted by “Trolls World Tour” director Walt Dohrn, a co-director on the original, the Annecy first look, often of rough animation, took in an opening scene at a techno troll rave disrupted by the arrival of rock trolls, answering to Queen Barb, who want to destroy the other strains of music. Poppy and Branch decide to fight back but, in one of the funniest scenes in the movie, fall under the tranquilizing effect of the king troll of cool jazz. Some of the character designs – such as of Trollsart, the king of classical music trolls, or a Dolly Partonish country music troll, hair piled on to of her head, had the Annecy audience laughing out loud

The sequel to Dreamworks Animation’s $346M-plus grossing hit Trolls, Trolls World Tour, has added a slew of voiceover castmembers including two-time Oscar nominee and multi-platinum recording artists Mary J. Blige, Grammy-nominated artist J Balvin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend‘s Rachel Bloom, Pitch Perfect‘s Ester Dean, Gustavo Dudamel (The Nutcracker and the Four Realms), Grammy-winning rocker Ozzy Osbourne, Grammy-winning artist Anderson .Paak, SNL‘s Emmy Award winner Kenan Thompson, The Disaster Artist actress/comedienne Charlyne Yi, and funk legend George Clinton.

Today’s cast announcement joins already in place Anna Kendrick (Poppy), Justin Timberlake (Branch), James Corden (Biggie), Ron Funches (Cooper), Caroline Hjelt (Chenille), Aino Jawo (Satin), and Kunal Nayyar (Guy Diamond), and new characters voiced by Flula Borg, Kelly Clarkson, Jamie Dornan, Anthony Ramos, Sam Rockwell and Karan Soni.

Trolls World Tour will also feature original music by Justin Timberlake, who earned an Oscar nomination for his song for 2016’s Trolls, “Can’t Stop the Feeling!,” and a score by Theodore Shapiro (2016’s Ghostbusters, The Devil Wears Prada).

A member of hard-rock royalty, Queen Barb (Rachel Bloom), aided by her father King Thrash (Ozzy Osbourne), wants to destroy all other kinds of music to let rock reign supreme. With the fate of the world at stake, Poppy and Branch, along with their friends — Biggie (James Corden), Chenille (Caroline Hjelt), Satin (Aino Jawo), Cooper (Ron Funches) and Guy Diamond (Kunal Nayyar) — set out to visit all the other lands to unify the Trolls in harmony against Barb, who’s looking to upstage them all.

Casting for the different musical tribes brings together one the largest, and most acclaimed, groups of musical talent ever assembled for an animated film. From the land of Funk are Mary J. Blige, George Clinton and Anderson .Paak. Representing Country is Kelly Clarkson as Delta Dawn, with Sam Rockwell as Hickory and Flula Borg as Dickory. J Balvin brings Reggaeton, while Ester Dean adds to the Pop tribe. Anthony Ramos brings the beat in Techno and Jamie Dornan covers smooth jazz. World-renowned conductor and violinist Gustavo Dudamel appears as Trollzart and Charlyne Yi as Pennywhistle from the land of Classical. And Kenan Thompson raps as a hip-hop newborn Troll named Tiny Diamond.

They are probably leaving even more surprises for later.

So this is basically a riff on the Infinity Gauntlet. Instead of having to get the Infinity stones to save the world, they need to collect 6 guitar strings? Seems mediocre plot-wise, but I enjoyed the original so i'll give it a shot.

While there are 6 strings, they are more tribes to include Smooth Jazz (released via press release) and as you saw in the trailer Hip Hop so while the story is set up as Infinity Wars with Trolls expect the difference to be that the strings don't really matter and some sort of macguffin for the actual plan.

Interested to see the new original songs for the movie. I know the brothers who did Aladdin music did the originals for movie 1 so I wonder if they’ll do the ones for world tour
