    Six Flags Magic Mountain

SoCal theme parks are greatly understaffed and demand is arguably the highest that it has ever been, so they have no reason to give away free tickets at a time like this. I haven't been to Magic Mountain since reopening, but I have been to USH, Knott's, and DLR. USH is the only one that didn't...

General Discussion - Jurassic World: The Ride

I got to the park around 5pm on Sunday, and the wait was around 30 minutes. Right before the park was about to close, it was a walk-on. So if you don't get their super early, the lines should be non-existent close to park closing.

    Springfield

Springfield itself is a great land, but since they never seem to run The Simpsons Ride at full capacity anymore, the line is always unbearable long, so I am okay with the land going away. I just hope it is a new land instead of a clone of something from Orlando. I wonder if the new land could...

General Discussion - Jurassic World: The Ride

I was at the park on Sunday and rode 4 times and the Indo Rex worked every time. I think the changes to the ride are fantastic and make it way better. I think this might be my favorite ride in California now that Splash Mountain is closing down. It is far and away the best ride in the park.

Halloween Horror Nights 2020 Old Speculation Thread

Even if USH is open by September, how many people are going to want to go the Halloween Horror Nights if the virus is still around? People know how crowded the event can get, and even if precautions are taken, a lot of people will think that it is going to be a lot more risky than going to a...

Effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19) On Entertainment & Tourism Industry

There is no way Netflix can make enough profit out of a single movie to justify spending 200 million on one. No sensible business is getting to fund a 200 million dollar crime drama, when it would be lucky to make a fourth of that budget back. TV shows like The Mandalorian are showing that...

Effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19) On Entertainment & Tourism Industry

It will be kind of sad when only the major event movies are playing in theaters. I will definitely miss watching smaller movies in theaters, but theaters can't survive in their current form with what Alamo is considering. One issue on the studios' side is how movie budgets have ballooned out...

Effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19) On Entertainment & Tourism Industry

If Alamo ever implements a policy requiring a two guest minimum, I will definitely never go to one of their theaters. As an introvert, I often go to the movies alone and I'm not going to support a business that doesn't allow that, even if they just do it temporarily. Plus, no way would I pay a...

    Six Flags Magic Mountain

Mid June would be the absolute earliest any SoCal parks might open, but at this point, I would guess that August is more likely. If only one park in the region was open, I wouldn't feel safe since it would seem that park opened early because they were desperate for money. I think that multiple...

Effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19) On Entertainment & Tourism Industry

I understand having to furlough front line cast members, but there is no reason outside cost savings to furlough the imagineers. I know Disney is probably looking at whatever ways possible to cut costs now, but if they are even furloughing the imagineers than that gives me even less confidence...

Effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19) On Entertainment & Tourism Industry

I know that some of this is because of production issues preventing the movies from being finished, but that isn't the case for all the movies getting delayed. I feel like some of these movies might not do as good in the future, especially since there will be more competition since studios will...

Halloween Horror Nights 2020 Old Speculation Thread

Peele's movies aren't very gory, so I wouldn't expect his maze to be either. It might still end up as a great maze. All Hallow's Eve will likely be the most intense of all the mazes on the speculation map.

Effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19) On Entertainment & Tourism Industry

Since we are getting to the point where movies that were scheduled to be released in July are getting delayed, does it really seem realistic that parks might open in mid May? If movie theaters can't open, I don't think that theme parks could open either.

Halloween Horror Nights 2020 Old Speculation Thread

Gremlins and The Bride are the only exciting things about that lineup. Beetlejuice might be good too. From that, I am expecting the year to be fairly tame in terms of gore. I loved Killer Klowns and liked Ghostbusters, and Gremlins and Beetlejuice will likely be similar in terms of being...

Halloween Horror Nights 2020 Old Speculation Thread

With all the budget cuts that are likely due to the pandemic closing the park for so long, I wouldn't be surprised if they reused entire old mazes this year. I rather have a good old maze back, than a really lame new maze that suffered from a ton of budget cuts.

Effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19) On Entertainment & Tourism Industry

It was likely that USH HHN was going to have a low budget year again like 2017. Since 2019 was a great year for the event, it is likely that the budget was already lower for this year, since that is how things have gone in the past. Now that this has happened, the budget for 2020 USH HHN will...

Effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19) On Entertainment & Tourism Industry

If Knott's doesn't reopen till mid-May, they will have been closed for two whole months. Just a week ago, Disneyland announced that they were closing for 2 weeks. Disneyland might feel safe opening sooner since they have more resources to help control crowds and such than Knott's does...

Effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19) On Entertainment & Tourism Industry

As someone that suffers from allergies, I would find it pretty discriminatory to prevent someone from entering based on if they were coughing or sneezing. Plus, they would lose a ton of business from other allergy sufferers. If there are any long lasting effects for operations, it would...

Effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19) On Entertainment & Tourism Industry

I think the fact that AMC Theaters are set to close for at least 6 to 12 weeks is a really bad sign for the parks reopening anytime in the next month.

    Avengers Campus (DCA)

The most exciting thing about what opens this summer is that the Disneyland Resort is getting a Coke Freestyle machine. I think the idea of just fighting spider-bots is very dull if no major villains show up. Just compare the story of fighting spider-bots with the story of the IOA Spider-Man...
