Effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19) On Entertainment & Tourism Industry

I just checked with a server I know at T-Rex, and apparently it's not true. They were furloughed so they can collect unemployment but will be able to get their jobs back once the restaurants can re-open. Edit: Here's an article which confirms what I was told...

Universal Endless Summer Resort - Surfside and Dockside Inn & Suites

Looks like they added a new page for Dockside on the website: Dockside Inn and Suites Also, the "Places to Stay" navigation menu is broken on mobile - it lists "Surfside" twice and the second Surfside link doesn't actually link anywhere... but on the Desktop version of the site Endless Summer...

Universal Sued Over Death After Riding Reign of Kong

I know this is getting off topic, but I just want to chime in and say do some research on the McDonald's hot coffee case - it's not as frivolous as you think.

Jurassic World VelociCoaster Construction Thread (Opening June 10)

While a JW overlay is most likely imminent, I don't think an old sign sitting backstage is evidence of anything happening anytime soon. This is just a leftover from when they did the temporary overlays of the land in conjunction with the JW movies hitting theaters. It being visible is probably...

Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure Construction Discussion

Is it just internal/insider chatter that's generating all this talk about the ride being behind schedule? Because from the outside it looks pretty okay... Granted I haven't been following this one too closely, but they've already got a vehicle on the track, so the test and adjust process has...

Halloween Horror Nights 29 General Discussion

Same. I think we're looking at a minimum of 39 event nights this year, if they start Wednesdays on October 2nd. Could be as many as 42 nights if they start Wednesdays right off the bat on September 11th. And it would be crazy if they ran on the 28th and 29th of October - that'd be 11 straight...

For the last two years, the RoF and RoF+Express tickets could only be upgraded to the Ultimate FFP and the Ultimate FFP+Express tickets.

    Disneyland's 3rd Park Rumor Discussion

Yeah, pretty sure that was just someone making a sarcastic remark in response to an annoying/off-topic question in that thread.

Halloween Horror Nights 28 General Discussion

That's crazy to me. I can't fathom paying more than the already inflated $600 price. Sure, the pass gets you admission and express EVERY night, but it doesn't offer any other benefits at all, like free parking. For that you'd also need to drop another $400. But at least that $400 gets you...

Halloween Horror Nights 28 General Discussion

They'd be better off discontinuing the Plus and Ultimate passes rather than doubling their price, especially when it comes to the ones that include express. No one is going to buy a $900 or $1200 pass, the value just isn't there, and Universal would look silly trying to sell something that...

    SeaWorld / Aquatica San Diego

Was it ever supposed to be? Permits were filed for this a few months ago and referred to it as a "2019 attraction", and even that "leaked" internal slideshow had this slated for 2019.

    SeaWorld Orlando's Future Plans

Well, that didn't take long... Looks like they've rolled out the changes this afternoon: SeaWorld Annual Passes for Florida Residents | SeaWorld Orlando

    SeaWorld Orlando's Future Plans

Interesting, they just re-did that whole area for Mako's opening in 2016 - any idea what they're updating? Additionally, I've heard their annual pass program is getting a total refresh. No idea when that'll launch or be announced, but it sounds like it's going to be similar to the Busch Gardens...

Halloween Horror Nights 28 General Discussion

Aren't those just the same trusses they set up every year for the Rock the Universe Fan Zones? Even if it is for HHN it's hardly noteworthy enough to proclaim scarezone construction has started, haha. But I guess they have to start somewhere.

HHN 28: Carnival Graveyard: Rust in Pieces

There's a slightly more detailed description of the maze on the main Universal Orlando site: Universal Orlando I wonder if the "Tunnel of Love" will be the spinning vortex tunnel thingy - haven't seen that at the event in awhile.

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

It's a nod to the Executive Project Director for Universal Parks and Resorts, Mike Hightower - in case anyone wasn't aware of the actual origin ;).

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

The only way to prevent it from being found is to announce the name before filing the trademark. Even if they had some other company file the mark, it would still be extremely easy to find by running a search like this that only returned results relating to them park trademarks: Also, I...

Here's a nice high-res version of the 487 plans, just in case anyone forgot what they looked like... ;)

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

Gotcha. So 130I is probably just the infrastructure part of the overall 130 project. I did notice that some of the plan sheets say "Project 130 Phase 1". Give the location of the power/chiller plant, I'd venture a guess this might be initial work for the KZ replacement.

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

Yeah, I think the 1301 is an error on the part of the City of Orlando permitting person who input it into the system. Probably wasn't sure if it was an I or a 1 and just went with 1. I believe the correct name is 130/130I, and I assume the I stands for infrastructure, as the project seems to...
