Universal's Epic Universe General News & Discussion

I bet Universal made an agreement for rights of way or air rights as part of their partnership for the expansion of Kirkman. Such rights would effectively contact the 3 campuses, and allow Universal to build a fixed rail or cable car system. I would assume such a system would be announce as new...

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion News (Part 2)

I would imagine that all options are on the table as for what they may use use as a transportation system between the three areas (including WNW). I would even go as far as to say that there is even a high likelihood that even gonzola cable cars may have been chosen or is being considered. I...

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion News (Part 2)

I still have hope for a monorail loop. It’s the perfect distance and monorail has a higher capacity and just makes sense for a system that just drops people off back and force between the two Universal campuses. Assuming Orange County, Orlando, and/or the FDOT work out a right of way agreement...

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

Reality dicticates that the system they choose will come as a deal from one of several known venders, Universal’s relationship with that vendor, terms of contract, and of course price plays a big factor. The only reason why Disney was able to build something out of the ordinary with the monorail...

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

By the way, I believe the original route for the monorail in the original property plans went along Universal Boulevard. I believe the median or shoulders of Universal Boulevard was designed to be wide enough for monorail pylons. The original plan connected the existing parking structures with a...

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

Or they could go way of Disney Skyliner (branded Universal). According to , Disney is so happy with it that an expansion to Aninal Kingdom Lodge, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, Corando Springs, and Typhoon Lagoon is planned in a few years. But, Universal would steel Disney’s thunder if they...

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

Actually, the original plans for the property before it was sold off show a monorail or transit line. I’m assuming they will go back to these original ideas now that they have most of this property back. Or maybe not.

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

Okay, I am forecasting the route of the monorail that will connect the two properties. This is just a rough estimate and does not show its route north or south through the properties or where it may loop...

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

Can somebody post a timeline of all the land buys and acquisitions Universal has made beginning with Wet N Wild?

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

So, can we assume that land assembly is pretty much complete now? If so, they will have to use public spaces (with public permission) to connect the three campuses with any fixed rail system.

But, the rest of Stan’s property does not fill in the northern gaps...

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

Yes, that’s why I said it’s “out there”, but it’s not impossible. To achieve this, the tunnels would be cut through bedrock, which is below the water table (they just did this in Miami a few years ago with the Port tunnel, for example). Of course, the cost would be prohibitively expensive, but...

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

In all seriousness, do you expect Universal/Comcast to buy even more land in order to connect the three (north, south, and Wet ‘N Wild)? As for a monorail connection, they could get rights to build in public rights of way, such as coming from Kirkman by Lockheed Martin.

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

Here’s an idea I have that’s kinda “out there”, but consider a Hyperloop demonstrator connecting the two campuses. The loops would circle underground at either campus and then connect with underground tunnels. The insane speed of the connection could be branded as “instant” (i.e. Star Trek...

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

Universal owns the entire lake around Wet n Wild.

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

Can someone make a map showing all of Universal Orlando’s land holdings, including all the original land, all the parcels they got with Wet N Wild, and all the new land near and around the OCCC? Also show the potential Stan Thomas foreclosure land they could acquire.

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

Also, I’m surprised no one has mentioned recent announcements that may factor into the equation: Comcast’s bid for Sky and Disney Paris’ multi-billion dollar expansion announcement. With Disney spending billions and billions each on projects to expand their current parks world-wide and the Fox...

Universal Orlando Resort Expansion (Part 1)

What they really need is transit from OIA to the OCCC, with a stop in downtown, and possibly all the way to Disney and maybe even Tampa. Projects like this have started and stopped countless times. If the government can’t do it, maybe do it in a private/public partnership with Brightline or some...
