Halloween Horror Nights 33 (UOR) - Speculation & Rumors

Beetlejuice and Ghostbusters as key IPs would make me a very happy camper, but boy, there’d be some howls. Strong merch and lagoon show potential, though. It’s kind of amusing given how little we know that so much discussion seems to center on which of a collection of rather unexciting IPs...

Halloween Horror Nights 33 (UOR) - Speculation & Rumors

I mean, it’s still interesting if they wanted the property but couldn’t get it. NoES would have been a great IP for the event, but HHN will be fine without it (again, the originals are what matters). As someone interested in the workings of the entertainment industry and particularly in theme...

Halloween Horror Nights 33 (UOR) - Speculation & Rumors

IF they tried and failed to get NoES (a big if), I’d be very interested to know what happened. Unlike previous “lost” IPs like Conjuring and Scream, Nightmare isn’t exactly a hot property. Since the disappointing remake 14 years ago, the franchise has been pretty dormant - arguably more so...

Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic (Epic Universe)

Fudge raises some really thorny questions since the actor passed away about seven years ago. If this is set after the films, it seems it would have been very easy not to include him - there would be a new Minister we haven’t seen in the films, correct? Beyond that, I understand the issues with...

Halloween Horror Nights 33 (UOR) - Speculation & Rumors

TCM is a good and historically important movie but its not fun. Halloween and Nightmare are both good and fun and Friday is awful and fun. I personally prefer houses based on fun movies, regardless of film quality.

Halloween Horror Nights 33 (UOR) - Speculation & Rumors

The originals are almost always the best houses, so none of this matters much. Still, GB (especially GB2) is a very appealing anchor to me. Not getting NoES is a shame - it’s a classic that would translate well and would move merch - but it’s certainly not a dealbreaker. I hope TCM isn’t the...

Halloween Horror Nights 33 (UOR) - Speculation & Rumors

Yeah, a world in which GB and Elm (if it’s coming) are tier 2 and Freddy’s is tier 1 is a world with confused priorities. (I understand that Freddy is enormously popular). Honestly, Freddy’s gimmick is so basic - ironically scary mascots - Uni should be able to create their own take with much...

Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic (Epic Universe)

If Universal began producing exclusively PG-13 rated Minions, Despicable Me, and Super Mario animated films, would you question the wisdom of the decision makers? Would you strongly suspect that they're excluding large chunks of their potential audience and leaving money on the table? As far...

Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic (Epic Universe)

It is entirely possible for a company's "aim" to be misguided. It happens all the time. When your core properties are King Kong, Jaws, Psycho, Back to the Future, and Ghostbusters and you are an upstart competing against an established player that dominates the families-with-young-children...

Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic (Epic Universe)

They’re wonderfully designed lands. Utter masterpieces of theming. Potter Paris looks like more of the same high quality. The ride selection in the lands reflects Universal’s profoundly misguided reluctance to build family-friendly attractions, even as the resort’s identity is tied more and...

Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic (Epic Universe)

Which part of the idea that a family-friendly franchise should have a family-friendly attraction is nonsense? My point is simply that a logical future addition to EU’s Potter land would be a family-friendly dark ride.

Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic (Epic Universe)

The fact that Potter doesn’t have a family-friendly dark ride in at least one of the THREE lands themed to the IP is genuinely mad and reflects some deeply dysfunctional thinking at the decision-making level.

Oh. Well, this is a bit disappointing.

Halloween Horror Nights 33 (UOR) - Speculation & Rumors

We're talking about the F&F location. The only really upsetting thing would be if they put an IP or original with a lot of potential in that space - like, say, Chucky. Insidious (or Strangers) would be fine.

How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk (Epic Universe)

Does this land have an expansion pad?

DreamWorks Land coming to USF (2024)

F&F is dying quickly and its star is heavily tainted. There will be more Jurassic something, probably starring Scarlett Johansson, but it’s in a lull at the moment and we don’t know how the relaunch will do. Monsters is one of my favorite franchises, but Uni has been trying and failing...

DreamWorks Land coming to USF (2024)

And as I’ve said before, Universals brand is now Minions, Despicable Me, Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, Puss in Boots, Bad Guys, Trolls, etc. Heck, their biggest franchises, Minions and Despicable Me, are LESS adult then Pixar and many Disney animated properties! Universal is, for several interrelated...

DreamWorks Land coming to USF (2024)

Yes, two live shows and a handful of ancillary attractions in a park featuring overwhelmingly family-oriented properties - in a resort for a company whose most viable IPs are cartoons… Mario Kart has a height requirement. Yoshi has an even taller height requirement. PS: MiB, Mayhem,ET...

Halloween Horror Nights 33 (UOR) - Speculation & Rumors

Yup - I personally feel it needed to lean more heavily into the parody, as that was the stronger element. I wanted giant bugs dressed up as a stereotypical 1950s family by the end. I’d argue that Hollywood’s Terror Tram did the concept better, which is… unusual.

DreamWorks Land coming to USF (2024)

Universal’s opinion is subjective too. “E-ticket-ness” is not measurable. Hagrid’s is an anchor attraction. The Dragon coaster isn’t going to be on the level of Hagrid’s - it will be closer to the Werewolf coaster, albeit a step up from that - a nice secondary ride. The bigger issue is that...
