It's a real shame because in theory, it seems like the most perfect and fitting way to open up a ride based on Jurassic Park. Like in the movie, the very first dinosaur we see in the flesh is a giant sauropod in a big open area while the classic booming Jurassic Park theme plays in the...
In regards to Animal Kingdom, besides the obvious Beastly Kingdom, I remember there were a lot of rumors that they were gonna port over Mysterious Island from Tokyo DisneySea as the replacement for Camp Minnie Mickey. Of course, then we ended up getting Avatar instead.
I do wonder if Universal Creative have ever thought about doing another Jurassic Park themed haunted house, like what we got back in 2002 for Islands of Fear.
Funny enough, the concept of Evilution and mutant dinosaurs/creatures doesn't seem so out of place within that IP nowadays, considering...
Yeah, I agree from a business perspective, Harry Potter was the right move that ushered in a new golden age for Universal...but at the same time, I also agree that IOA lost a lot of its soul when Merlinwood/Lost Continent got taken out back. Such is especially the case with Dueling Dragons, it...
Even if Nintendo was okay with Universal doing full blown HHN stuff with their IPs (they clearly aren't lol), I don't think it'd matter in Zelda's case considering that this would be taking over Lost Continent in Islands of Adventure, which hasn't had a HHN held there since like 2005 anyways.
I said it before but it's a weird thought that The Flying Unicorn (now Flight of the Hippogriff) wounded up being the last standing remnant of The Lost Continent, with Dueling Dragons/Dragon Challenge, Poseidon's Fury and Sinbad all shuttered/about to be shuttered.
One detail from the DK area that surprises me...Ellie the Elephant from Donkey Kong Country 3 appears to make a cameo.
That's a real deep cut right there, especially since the land appears to be modeled after Retro Studio's DKC games instead of the Rare trilogy.
Just a comparison of Dueling Dragon's entrance to Hagrid's.
Funny that remnances of the old castle still remain, namely the large turret on the left. Wonder what the inside's gonna look like now.
Totally random thought: It's nice to see a Unicorn featurely prominently in a major Orlando attraction after how Beastly Kingdom got scrapped and how The Flying Unicorn got rethemed to Hippogriff.
Just like to point out, the Jurassic Park game made by Telltale actually features a roller coaster at one point.
Too bad we couldn't get a real live version of this :look:
Haha I remember uploading that and the rest of the Islands of Adventure soundtrack back when I was 12. Funny to see it pop up here after all these years.
Man seeing that Beastly Kingdom stuff there makes me a sad boy.
So, I guess that's the reason they've kept the Dragon in the logo for so long? Because they've been trying to ressurect the concept but kept failing? I'm surprised they kept in there for as long as they have, considering...
I think the idea of having an entire themed land dedicated to mystical creatures has been kinda nullified by the existence of Expedition Everest.
I think an interesting idea of ressurecting BK that's more fitting at this point is to essentially create a "Europe" themed area. Model it after...
Said this in another thread, but it's kind of a weird, and also sad thought, that years from now, the last remnance of the Lost Continent will just be the Flying Unicorn (now Flight of the Hippogriff) and some parts of the old Dueling Dragon castle queue.
DINOSAUR is a pretty interesting inverse of River Adventure, when you think about it.
River Adventure has great set design and attention to detail and yet most of the dinosaur AAs themselves are pretty lackluster. DINOSAUR (on a good day anyway) has solid and fluid dinosaur AAs but there's not...
