What's interesting is over on the USF general discussion thread or whatever it was called, I posted that I hoped the reason for AA being shuttered wasn't budget cuts and that Alicia would prove me wrong in a future rumor update. Her response was one of those emojis that conveyed a wink and a nod. Which seems to me it wont sit vacant and something is planned to take it over.

While I don't think it's tied to a Simpsons replacement, I could see a Dreamworks phase 2 dark ride for Shrek. Which if this is the route they are going down, shows Universal is listening to feedback that USF finally needs more than just Hollywood Drift and a reskinned Supercharged on the docket. If the Simpsons replacement is still a ways off.

What would be really cute is if they kept the bare bones of the show but refurbished and re-themed it to be The Secret Life of Pets: Live!

Doesn’t necessarily mean that AA is going to have work started on it. It could also mean FFL is going to get demo’d and AA will take its position as vacant stage used for seasonal events instead.

Sky is really the limit.

Whatever happens down the line....either..... replacement with something else, long Lost Continent timeframe probably.....or limited two month future use for the existing or an additional HHN show.......it will be a large cost savings short term and/or long term.....Sad because it was a nice alternative in a park that isn't very well balanced with attractions at this point in time.

If they had gotten a new show online somewhere, in one of the other empty spaces, I'd certainly feel better about it.

Right now their statement reads to me as vague nothingness, that could very well just be covering up cost cutting during slow times.

Look, I could care less about AA. But I do care about park entertainment, and USF / IOA are.. not in a good place.

I hope that they see Bourne, Le Cirque Arcanus, and Untrainable as successes. None of them are perfect, but they are all enjoyable new show offerings, and certainly the grandest non-seasonal productions they've done in awhile. It's kinda cool that they positioned Untrainable almost as a dual E-Ticket for that land when the park opened. The Dreamworksland show is a cute diversion too.

Both of those new Epic shows have some less than ideal downtimes and technical issues. I can't imagine either are inexpensive to keep operating as they do.

Wasn't there a County paperwork hurdle to beginning work on the FFL stage back in 2020 that caused that development to halt? Am I making that up? I swear I remember that being part of the (speculative) reason USF didn't get the VR broom thing.

Bourne is likely the best out of those three, but Untrainable is very impressive regardless and even Cirque has some select moments that wow.

Yes, FFL was set to go for Potter - but then it got cut and evolved into something for Epic.

Bourne, Le Cirque, and Untrainable are amazing shows and I've been really amazed by all three. Doing more of those would probably be the direction to go because of their ability to pull in guests.

I love Beetlejuice's Graveyard, but if you start putting that up against those three shows... the general guest is going to start to compare and the allure of Beetlejuice is going to wane very quickly.

I think only producing highly technical, expensive to run shows, is a recipe for failure. You should and can mix smaller / simpler productions, with bigger.

Mainly my curiosity isn't so much the Potter situation but the paperwork situation. Is there a paperwork-related reason as to why we haven't gotten a new non-seasonal FFL project in half a decade, or has FFL just not been a priority for them?

Yeah, having the FFL stage exist solely to be a venue for Nightmare Fuel at HHN is pretty sad ngl. I mean, they never even touched the set. It's a huge venue and has the potential to be a big draw. I suppose they've been so busy with their other projects Uni hasn't had time to touch it yet. Hopefully, it's next on the menu followed by AA.
