Denzel Washington has let it slip that Black Panther 3 is in development, as he is planned to be starring in the film. Ryan Coogler is writing the script right now, with a role with Denzel in mind.

If they're going full reboot after the Avengers films, I think recasting is the right call. Shuri just didn't really push the needle imo, and it's been a good while now since Chadwick's passing. I believe his legacy with the character is safe. A new Black Panther would be interesting, and it's no different from how they've treated any of the other main heroes.

I mean....the sister didn't work

She didn't have the presence of someone with respect which makes sense her character wasn't suppose but the BP normally has people respect and his enemies fear

So without recasting I dont know how you do it....I hate he died but sometimes you just have to recast like what they did in Star Wars for Balyn in the Ashoka show

There technically doesn’t have to be a recasting of Chadwick’s BP with the way things are set up. Since they’ve played with time travel already & now are playing with the multiverse, they set themselves up for two options.

The first option would be to bring back Michael B Jordan, who could easily have been Black Panther in another universe. People also love him & have been asking for it, so there is a fan base for that decision. It could also be a temporary solution until option 2 plays out.

The second option would be to age up Prince T’Challa II. They could do it with a time jump (which he could be at least a teenager by Avengers Secret Wars) or use time travel/multiverse (I wouldn’t like this though because it diminishes the ending of Black Panther II). They did a 5 year time jump in Endgame so it’s possible. This way the recast would be for the child but not the legacy of Chadwick Boseman. Since the kids name is also T’Challa, this also allows Marvel to continue adapting storylines from the Black Panther comic. For example, there can now be a storyline where T’Challa dates Storm. They’d just have to age him up enough to whomever they cast for Storm. I think it will be best to let Shuri take over for the next Avengers movie while having her mentor a teenaged T’Challa II so the audience starts getting familiar with the character. The audience already will have a bit of love for him just because he is Chadwick’s offspring in the movie.

Respectfully disagree. Her performance in Wakanda Forever was amazing. We've also barely seen her as Black Panther since that wasn't till the 3rd act of the movie. So I think it's a bit odd to judge her iteration of the character like this since her version is still very fresh and hasn't been in another mcu project since that movie.

I mean BP was barley in Civil War and I think he stole every scene....she is clearly not on his level by the fact the film did fine and I rarely hear people talk about it
She just hasn't had enough time to develop into the character but can't blame me for that...thats on the MCU for throwing her into a film and just forgetting about her like Shang Chi, Moon Knight and the rest of Characters we need more time with but once again BP killed it in the first film he was in...the scene with him and Zemo....yeah just so dam good along with Chadwick during the scene with the ancestors telling them they were wrong.
But BP2 was for sure a down step from the first film, some characters got moments but too much going on to develop them like in the first film and just throwing in Ironheart didn't help. They needed to focus on her but...just didnt

Sure, I mean if they want

But I think audiences just want a good film, you do that and it be anyone Doom is literally our Ironman...so if they want to recast him seems like he could come in as someone who was resisting Doom in there timeline and then joins the MCU time line like Deadpool and the Fantasic 4

I was just showing you the possibilities since you said you can’t see a future without recasting. They can go the route you mentioned and completely abandon Chadwick’s legacy. Or introduce an older version of his son with the same name. I do wonder what route they will take. Everything I mentioned could be done during both Avengers movies & the Disney+ show, leading up to a Black Panther movie starring a T’Challa once again. Which is why I suggest keeping Shuri as BP for both Avengers movies with scenes of her mentoring T’Challa II. Then by the time a BP movie releases, they can make him much older. If they rush a BP movie with no heart & a recasting, it could bring down the movie. Using his son can fix that. If they aim for a 2028/2029 release, it will all fit naturally following both Avengers movies.

We aren't trying to erase his work. He was amazing and he was lost way too young but T’Challa is a huge part of Marvel. We just need to recast him and have him join back in

His son is just too young and he's not the same character and while I love Kill Monger if we are just bringing in someone from another time line why not just have it as another T’Challa?

Baylan was by far my favorite part of the Ashoka show but his actor passed away and also in my opinion before his time but I'm glad the character isn't just gone.
We are in a weird situation because they decided to Kill him off in the MCU but I think Doom coming into the MCU from somewhere else is the perfect place to have a new version of T'Challa enter the MCU and we have seen because of the Spiderman film and loki not all varieties are 1/1 the same person

Marvel put themselves into that box already though when they made a whole movie about Chadwick’s passing. If they waited a few more years & recasted him then I think the situation would be a tad bit easier to accept. But I do see your points in just recasting him now so he can be in the next two Avengers film. If they found a very respected actor to replace him, it could make fans less resistant to change. I suppose if they went with a recast but still wanted to involve T’Challa II & Shuri, they can come out with The Panthers movie eventually (kind of joking lol).

I just don't understand what the point of this conversation is. They already confirmed they won't be recasting, so for now Shuri is our black panther. Plain and simple. Whether or not you like that it doesn't matter because that's how it is. Just wait until Black Panther 4 if you don't want to watch Shuri in that role.
