Anybody plan on getting the new Microsoft Flight Sim? I've gotten a few short flights in and I've gotta say it's one beautiful game. If anyone isn't aware, it uses Bing map data to procedurally-generate real-world buildings and live weather.

The map data is pre-Volcano Bay for the Orlando area, so no Krakatau fly-bys just yet.

Still trying to figure out the controls, but in the 10 minutes I had with it I was able to fly over WDW and was amazed how realistic it looked.

I'm pushing my computer to it's limits to the point it sounds like it's about to take off and fly away.

Yeah I've got no slouch of a machine and I've had to overclock my GPU and give the game some CPU priority in order to maintain a solid 30fps. Probably one of the most graphically intensive games I've played.

There's challenges with achievements to participate in, and it's probably the most "video game" of any of the Microsoft releases. There's an aim for accessibility with this one. They made it super adjustable in terms of ease of use, probably because they intend this to be an Xbox title as well.

So it looks like you can purchase the deluxe edition upgrades from the in-game marketplace, but it's at the same cost as just buying the game with the upgrades from the start. Meaning if you purchased the standard edition on Steam in the hopes of being able to add the deluxe upgrade later it's going to cost you $60 extra to do it that way.

I just got the "Xbox Game Pass for PC" for $1 in order to play it. If I'm still playing it in a few months (unlikely) I'll just purchase the game outright.

I've been playing it a little since launch. Its really cool, but apparently I suck something fierce at flying. So far I've managed to destroy my engine, rip the wings off, and crash into trees because I keep getting lost trying to find my house.

I'm a 35 minute drive from MCO.... you would think I could make it but yeah..... Once I do that, I plan to do my flybys of the parks.
BTW if anyone hasn't payed attention to the XBox Ultimate Game Pass its a heck of a deal. I was an early adopter and got it for $1 for the remainder of my XBox Live subscription so I got 2 1/2 years worth for $1

I've been getting the hang of it and got some cool shots. The DL40 seems pretty good for this kind of stuff. There is a bug I found with active pause where it can cause some weird stuff to happen if you touch the controls while paused. It can cause you to wreck while paused or come out of pause in a weird angle.

The plus side with Flight Sim 2020 is that it's running on cloud based data technologies via Microsoft Azure.

Hypothetically, we could see geographical changes and updates in the eventual span of time--as they have intentions of a long life-span with this one.

I think I had read somewhere that they intend to update the maps data periodically. Add that to third parties making 3D models for certain cities, I could definitely see this outlasting the run Flight Sim X had.

it was actually really pretty cool seeing old stuff, it would be nice if they made it so you can fly through different periods of time. I got a screen shot of Disney Quest, but Wet n Wild was there and who knows what other old timey stuff there is.

I read that this game is estimated to add three billion dollars to revenue from PC sales and peripheral sales. VR support isn't even out yet,

That's assuming peripherals are ever in stock again; it seems like it's going to be months before I can get the yoke + throttle quadrant I've been eyeing.

That said, even after 50 hours or so I'm still blown away by this game, it really is just an unbelievably impressive technical achievement. While I look forward to VR being available, I don't see how it can run on modern hardware, I have what I think is a fairly beefy system and I can't even hold 60fps on a single monitor.

The peripheral industry has been a complete joke this year. Thrustmaster releases the Airbus Sidestick in June and it sells out immediately. They advertise that the stick is supposedly MSFS2020-ready, but when it came time for the game to come out it was all quiet on their end- except for the fact that they kept giving the *$#@()@* thing away to any streamer who had more than 100 viewers.

I'm stuck with my 15 year old Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, and it has seen better days, to put it lightly. Looked for a new one of those to no avail as well. I just want to be able to give a company money for a peripheral, is that too much to ask for?
