Don’t know if y’all follow the Orlando thread, but there’s a rumor that a user posters that the individual heard that EDB may have been scrapped.

Take it with a grain of salt, but if this is true, of all the IPs to be potentially scrapped, thats the one IP I would not lose sleep over if we lost it. Just curious to know what will replace it if it’s true.

EDIT TO ADD: Apparently this rumor is probably a nothing burger. It would be kinda late in the game to pull it anyway. Still, if it were to get pulled, I wouldn’t lose sleep over it.

A few people on the Discord asked my thoughts on this. So, I’m just going to repost:

“I haven’t heard anything from my sources about it (though they’re all trying to figure out if it’s true). I’ve seen the rumblings though, and I think it’s sourced in spec. The only reason I’ve seen presented for “why” is because the movie is bombing. Frankly, that’s not enough of a reason to ditch a pretty much done house. WB has no incentive to pull it from Universal, and the costs for Universal to rush a replacement are so high, I could never imagine that being enough.

Now, there *IS* a possibility that Universal lost *AN* IP… and that IP would potentially be Terrifier. There are actually valid reasons for Universal to not use that anymore.

A number of people just don’t want EDB there.”

Hey if they lose Terrifier for the Tram, maybe they can switch out Art for the Director, which is something they should’ve done from the start IMO.

EDB is not the only example of a movie bombing but there's still a maze for it. Dracula Untold, anyone remember that movie? The Thing: Assimilation? The 2010 remake of The Wolfman? All have been mazes at HHN, but none of the movies exactly lit the world on fire.

Heck, look at how Exorcist: Believer is still going at Horror Unleashed, and no one even remembers that movie anymore. Certainly, no one was asking for it to be immortalized in a year-round haunt, but here we are.

There could be other reasons for it not be used, but box office failure is not really one of them.

Evil Dead Burn drastically underperformed, especially compared to Rise, but it broke even this weekend, so it’s not an outright bomb. They definitely should’ve released it closer to Halloween, not smack in the middle of a summer season being dominated by stuff like Toy Story and The Odyssey. Hopefully they’ll rethink their release strategy for Evil Dead Wrath.

Evil Dead Wrath is moving back to a spring release, so it should be fine.

Personally, I don’t think the release date was the issue. I saw the early cut and knew it would be a divisive film and the box office reveals that.

I’m not gonna lie idk if Terrifier fatigue has set in already but I’d personally still rather see “Art the Clown takes over movies” over “A tired looking European snuff director who only appeared at HHN Hollywood once 20 years ago takes over movies”
