I’m seeing comments stating they aren’t offering the Unlimited Express upgrade this year. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was true, but I also wonder if it was just for opening weekend.

Very interested to see more info on this. I was really banking on getting one night of this to make up for not having Express with my Frequent Fear Pass

I am wondering why there isn't more done with queues considering that it's such an opportunity. Considering all the love of lore from the superfans, why not just hire some writers and make so novellas/short stories to read in the queue? Then have QR codes that bring it up on your phone.

There are tons of horror writers out there and it wouldn't be prohibitively expensive. Of course some of the people involved with the event might be capable also, it all depends on if they have experience with prose writing.

They used to do some variations of that. It obviously wasn't worth the squeeze.

Hiring a writer can actually be pretty expensive. A low-end (but successful) ghostwriter can charge $5k to $10k for a single short work. Ghostwriters also, typically, need the “author” hiring them to provide a full outline of the story. Hiring writers is not “I have an idea” and the ghostwriter comes up with a story based on that kernel. It’s work for both entities, and if Universal isn’t going to get any actual ROI on it (see the in-park games and story-dumps), then it’s not worth the effort for either side.

I mean that's basically what the Echoes from the Fog podcasts were, but those got cut down more and more until they're apparently not happening this year.

FWIW I like to buy a relevant British Library Tales of the Weird collection to read in the kindle app in lines. Last year I did Deadly Dolls, this year I've started All the Fear of the Fair: Uncanny Tales of Circus and Sideshow.

Yeah, the website, videos, apps, etc. must not have received the engagement they were hoping for. While we are die-hards, I imagine most don't care and just want to go enjoy the houses and party. Which is a bummer because I appreciate the effort put into those endeavors.

Omg the highly themed websites...the sites and the elaborate entrances of the actual event were my favorite parts of HHN when I first started going around 2005...and the price too...the tickets at Publix and the Fl Resident Coke discounts...

They stopped doing the interactive websites because they actually made it harder for people to find the necessary information. The fancier they made them, the less information was conveyed because the vast majority of people would just get confused about everything. The more confused they got, the less interested in the event they became.

That makes complete sense to simplify everything..but I still miss them! Lol.

School night. Stay and Scream houses opening early working as planned. Not a holiday weekend.

Mix in the fact that it was raining again and was supposed to be storming until about 8:30-9:00, I'd suspect a lot of FFPers thought "screw it, I went the last two nights and I ain't dealing with it" Luckily that weather didn't come through and Sunday night ended up being fantastic. If only my body wasn't so exhausted from the previous 3 nights.

Still waiting to hear more about the Unlimited Express option availability, but did anyone notice they were still doing the After 11pm Half Price Express tickets this year? If we no longer have either of these options, my house run totals are going to plummet this year.

hhn queues are very loud and hot uncomfortable. the lines keep moving and everyone is always talking

I don't think reading short stories would be that good.
but
I do miss when queue lines had music videos.
that was fun. music videos I wish came back

As someone who’s done the event in both a wheelchair and ECV I’ll be happy to help. If you’re are in a wheelchair you can stay in it all night. However if you’re in an ECV you will have to transfer to a wheelchair at the front of the queue. All the houses can fit a wheelchair however it is tight and dark. And if there is a path a wheelchair can’t go on there will be an alternative route. (Slanted floor, vortex tunnel, etc.)

I had no idea the slanted floor would be back when I made this post Vortex tunnel I did expect but didn’t know for sure.
