HHN added 9+ hours of house time per night this year--effectively, an 11th house. It's done little to help. Sure the extra houses are busy for an hour or so, but become walk-ons for two of those hours, and then slammed again by 7 p.m. And the S&S set-up means practically every other house has a huge line by time the time gen pop gets in the front gate.
I discussed this on Twitter in the wake of Disney's crackdown on resort use, but Orlando isn't the smallish, kinda poor metro area it was back in 2000. We're the #18 metro in the country now (probably higher if you included the half of Polk east of Lakeland), and the average home price is north of $500k. That's a lot more people with a lot more disposable income.
Parks have to charge more than $10 - $15 a night or they're going to get slammed. Sadly, that's the solution. Cut ticket sales in half, but increase ticket prices 2.5x. Honestly, most people I know use their FFP more in a year than their day park AP. There needs to be more parity in that pricing.
Until the inevitable preference cascade hits, because a 1-night ticket isn't worth the hassle to see two houses. To quote Yogi Berra, "no one goes there anymore, it's too crowded." With this year's mid line-up of houses, that has to be a real concern for the 2027 budget.
