This thread is aimed at inspiring new members to join, say hello, introduce themselves, and continue the conversation. 90%+ of new members make a new thread saying hello and then we never hear from them again. We know there out there lurking but want them to join in desperately. I want new members, or those with less than 25 or so posts to come in here and join me in conversation. I am inviting you to come get comfortable or in a way take off the training wheels with me and other supportive members.

The two most common reasons people never post is because they don't feel comfortable posting or feel they have nothing to contribute. I can assure you if you can read and write I want you to contribute to the conversation. We can talk about anything you want. Want to ask me about what I had for lunch today? What's my favorite ride? Do I leave the toilet seat up just to piss off the misses? Anything! I just need some of you new members to join in with me here and get everyone going

So what are you waiting for? Join me

I second this post - it's such a shame never hearing from you guys! Think about how much better the conversation would be if you were involved. Even if you don't know a lot about the backstage technical stuff, you can still totally contribute :) Here's to hoping you guys continue to join and contribute!

Don't be afraid. Join us in the conversation. If you're a lurker, you enjoy reading the discussions, and haven't registered for an account, please do so. We want you to join and get comfortable here. This is the most friendly theme park forum out there. You won't regret it.

I think one of the biggest reasons some individuals never post is because their posts get ignored. If their post is ignored, what was the point of posting? Regardless, I hope this offers incentive for some members to post more.

Btw, what did you have for lunch HTF?

What did you have for lunch today?

Lol, never mind, I just saw Eric beat me to it. So then I'll ask what was for dinner?

I was a lurker for a while and then started posting a lot in the picture threads. That was a ways for me to break the ice, per say, until I was ready to jump into the discussion on some of the other threads. What in love most is you are able to comment and you don't have to worry about being put down or insulted because what you say goes against then common thought! Its a pretty open forum!

I just now realized I've been a member since 09 and up until last year was a lurker and rather quiet.

I've been lurking for a while and been too shy to post anything. So, in the spirit of your good idea, here's a few questions for anyone who wants to answer. What's your favorite attraction/show that is no longer operating? Also, what's the funniest or weirdest thing that's ever happened to you or around you at a park?

Welcome! To answer your first question, Jaws without a doubt. For the other question, it would have to be when my wand chose (remember, the wand chooses you ;) ) me at Ollivander's since I never get chosen for anything.

Red Lobster as a matter of fact, ehh it was ok. Had the fried shrimp and a dozen of those biscuits

He does leave the seat up just to get on my nerves just so we can skip that question.

And I use a terrible towel to wipe

You have really come on the scene and have been an amazing contributor!

I have one! How did you discover your fear of flying? I mean their has to be a first story.

I have two,

The first funny enough is when I was taking flying lessons in Seattle and the Cessna I was in had an engine stall and their was a moment of gliding while it restarted. We landed in Auburn WA to be on the safe side of things. The other was I had to fly to South Dakota for a business trip. The flight out was perfect no issues (Frontier Air). The return trip however was a nightmare and was the last time I will fly United if I can help it. First we got delayed in SD for 4 hours while stuck on the plane in route to Denver. Then due to everyone missing connections in Denver (Uniteds Hub mind you) because of weather I had to wait in line to reschedule my flight, another 3 hours. Got the last flight of the day out of Denver direct to Orlando on Ted Airlines, Uniteds version of Spirit. During that flight the pilot, Captain Flyboy decided to go through the storm that caused us delays in Denver instead of around it. I have flown a lot in my life and I mean a lot, and the turbulence I experienced on that flight was like nothing I have ever even come close to. A flight attendant was hurt badly, overhead bins had luggage flying about, my own drink went zero g and floated out of my drink as I watched in horror, and people were screaming. It was the most frightened Ive ever been but had to maintain composure as a lady and her child were right next to me and another business man. I was laughing on the outside but had to change my pants upon arrival into MCO. Oh and just after landing the pilot said welcome to Orlando, I bet Disneyworld can't beat that ride. Oh HA HA! Last but not least I lost the car in the parking garage, left at A and returned at B and then Sunpass was down that night so I had to stop while they recorded ID's and license plates. Left my hotel in SD at 4AM and got into my bed the following day at 3 AM.

My favorite attractions that are no longer operating are Kongfrontation at Universal and Horizons at WDW. If I had to pick one it would be Kongfrontation. That was the ride that made me love dark rides and appreciate everything that goes into them. As far as the funniest thing, thats difficult but off the top of my head would be seeing a drunk guy acting all hard get taken down by OPD's taser and then crying. As for the weirdest, uhh getting into a fight at the Magic Kingdom with tourists and then being taken to Disney HQ. Thank God another family came and told security what happened and then verified by video. We got multiple free passes and a free tour guide who escorted us through back doors right onto rides for the rest of the day. This was back before FP, so it was very odd to see some backstage areas.

I've got two funny stories for you. First was a day trip we took to IOA probably around 2003-2004. Park just opened and we were walking back towards DD thru Suess. The floor was still wet so as we are going over the bridge that connects Port Of Adventure to Suess my buddy decides he wants to show off right. He's gets a running start and tries to "surf" the bridge using his wet sandals. Needless to say he ate it really good and went flying. I haven't laughed that hard in all my life .

Second story was the same guys older brother but this time was a few years later and while we went thru the turnstiles to leave IOA he spun the turnstile to fast and ended up walking right into one of the arms of the gate and totally racking a certain tender area in his nether regions

I just saw someone do this at HHN opening night and the dude (a large mammal) ate it hard. It was in front of at least 100 people and everyone was like OHHHHHHH!!!!

I remember one time, I don't remember at what theme park, but I was in a rush for some reason and walked right into one of those chains that form a queue, and flipped right over it. Doesn't help that I'm a tall dude. Another time, I forgot my belt at the hotel, and while on Rockit my pants slowly slipped down. Well there was full butt to seat contact, and I had to embarrassingly pull them up in front of a full queue.

And I use a terrible towel to wipe.

This is why the Jaguars are the Baguars.

As for the funniest thing, it was when I was younger and we were visiting Epcot. We had been in line for Malestrom for a good 45 minutes. Ahead of us in line, were two members of one of everyone's favorite cultural tour groups. It appears that these two, were the place holders for the other 45+ members of the group. Now, being halfway through a hot July day in Florida and my father being already at his wits end, he loses it. He leans over the railing and shouts at the group. "I don't know where you're from, but here in America we wait in line like everybody else!" This is met with thunderous applause and cheers from most of the other frustrated tourists in line.

I've never been so proud and my mother has never been so embarrassed.

Any other "new" members wanting to join in please.

OU is way more addicting than FB! I go on it every hour now. And freak out when I see a new post in a thread I really like. Sometimes I just spend hours reading old threads.

Damn, 90%+ make a hello thread? I feel special for not doing one now! But yeah, sign up and join in on all the speculation and conversation. It can be fun.
