It just occurred to me that in the video where we see the trains lift up in the station, the chairs rotate. I'm surprised no one is talking about this yet. I think this will be a suspended Cosmic Rewind and the chairs will rotate during the ride.

I would assume the rotation only occurs in the station.

This is how the doors are raised and lowered onto the scare/laugh floor in the Monsters Inc factory. It rotates to face the center of the room, but only ever faces forward while being moved throughout the door vault.

(Also, I’m sure the company would be touting it as a spinning coaster and not just suspended if this were the case.)

Well, think about this: If the rotating only occurs in the station, why spend that extra time and money to use that feature just for the station? Looking at the show scenes would be kind of challenging in a suspended train where the track is above you and there's a car right in front of you. Looking around you would also make it difficult. That problem would be resolved if the chairs are rotating.

I'm with @Alicia here that the rotation/locking into place is only for the station. Partly due to that's how things go in the movie, but also if they were going to be rotating here and there, I do feel they'd show that in the concept art because that's an easy way to convey that you'll be spinning around during the ride. But the concept art in the door vault shows all the cars facing forward.

Also, Vekoma is no stranger to a coaster using this kind of feature just for the station. Because F.L.Y. in Phantasialand does the same thing. For those who don't know, it's a flying coaster where the cars are permanently in the flying position, so in order for guests to load and unload, the track is 90 degrees and the cars rotate to face upwards as the train travels sideways through the station. After a little traversing through a mini darkride section, the track twists to the normal position and the cars rotate so they're facing head on during the whole ride and at no point do they rotate again until they return to the station.

Maybe that's where you and I disagree... because perhaps saying there will be show sceneS is a bit of a stretch. I think there will be scenery and theming, with maybe some "scenes" only at the start and end.

If it were like Cosmic Rewind, they'd be calling it a suspended "story" coaster for sure

I could see scenes of doors, doors being open, maybe the coaster goes through one door into a scene and exits back into the Monsters world. I think that you are correct that it is more place setting with maybe a show scene at the beginning or end.

Yeah, I may have to come out with my hot take on this one.

I'm sure it'll be a blast, but I think people are hyping this up way too much compared to what it's actually going to be..

an indoor suspended coaster with some theming

I'm expecting the bulk of the coaster to, essentially, be one giant show scene in the gravity building, with the track swooping in and around mostly-static doors.

My thoughts exactly, while Disney is no stranger to overhype be it self-inflicted or their fans expecting too much, I think the expectations has been pretty measured that this is gonna' be an indoor coaster with a neat little lift to start things off. That's my expectation and ultimately it could be a nice family coaster.
