There are 2 areas with eash having their own pool. Of course you can use ethier one. Tower std rooms have interior entrances(hallways) the courtyard has exterior enty in to your room.

If I'm not mistaken, there are only standard rooms in the Towers. There's not much to request unless you'd like to be closer to the elevators, closer to the main building/food court.

The towers offer both family suites & standard rooms.

The courtyard offers only family suites.

I did not know this, seems odd that there are no std rooms in the the courtyard.
