I just don't understand, out of all the creative writers currently in Hollywood they could've hired, they hired SIMON KINBERG???? His last two films he wrote were "The 355" and X-Men Dark Phoenix... Both critical and financial failures. Oof

Just for fun, I'm gonna list out all the uncompleted Star Wars film projects of the Disney era off the top of my head (and yes I have no life):

Films (off top of head)
Untitled Simon Kinberg Trilogy
Untitled Benioff and Weiss Trilogy (rumored to be Knights of the Old Republic)
Untitled Kevin Feige movie (produced by Kevin Feige and written by Michael Waldron)
Untitled Rian Johnson Trilogy
Untitled JD. Dillard movie
Rogue Squadron (directed by Patty Jenkins)
Untitled Lando Movie (originally a TV show)
Rumored Boba Fett Movie (originally to be directed by Josh Trank, turned into a TV Show)
Rumored Obi-Wan Movie (turned into a TV Show)
Untitled Rey Movie (lost two writers)
Untitled Jedi Origin Movie (probably will be made since James Mangold is...consistent)
Untitled Dave Filoni Movie (probably will be made)
Untitled Shawn Levy Movie

Films (that I had to look up)
Untitled Taika Waititi Movie
Whatever Guillermo del Toro wanted to do with Jabba the Hutt

TV Shows
Rangers of the New Republic (canceled for reasons)
A Droid Story (MIA)

I wonder with the way things are being positioned--with Mando & Grogu being the seeming finale of the "Mando-verse"; perhaps they're aiming for this trilogy to be the "End" of the Star Wars saga?

Only thing that comes to mind is due to Kinberg's involvement in writing, if Filoni is involved creatively and that this adapts the material with the Yuuzhan Vong. I could've sworn Filoni has toyed with the idea in the past in animation, but never for live action at this current period.
