My initial thought, before Bob's mention of BGT, was Universal in connection with the high rise hotels rumored to be going where Wet N Wild is. Wasn't there talk of that also being a spot for a City Walk v2.0?

This is what I was thinking. This would be a great draw to the new I-Drive CityWalk. It would look great between 2-16 story hotels. And a "Fine Dining" restaurant on the upper level would fit well with the CityWalk concept. Throw in the new "monorail" to the existing resort and it would be VERY Las Vegas! I just think that with the flashing circular Jumbotron, this thing would look better along Orlando's "Strip" than in a wild animal park. It would be like a GIANT version of the Coke place in the current CityWalk.

Although, I would hope that your regular Park/Annual Pass would be all you would need. to ride it.

Edit: Screamscape is backtracking on saying "Orlando" and is saying the current rumor is a "Central Florida" location. And that all that is confirmed is "Florida".

I like it. But I do want it to be spaced from the hotels so it can run till like midnight.

Once again, would be awesome! but... not happening. I dont believe there will be a new city walk, 2 hotels, wet and wild closes down and a polercoaster by 2016. Even then, Universal needs to become more than just theme park and rides, they want to become an all around resort where people can spend 3 days on their property without having to go to disney.

Unless there is another citywalk which I am missing, dont plan on seeing this going to universal unless they decide to do something extreme.

Funspot or busch gardens is my vote. But i hope im wrong

I have heard 2017 is the target date for the new hotels.

I am suspecting that the Polercoaster is actually going to BGT. But if it is maybe Universal could get a Skyspire instead.

for the new hotels without the citywalk or with the citywalk? I think the skyspire would be a better fit depending on the ambience they are trying to create. something cool will be to have both side by side. And would they have the room to do it? I feel they would have to buy more land for a citywalk if its true that they plan for a third gate to be the water park. From my understanding the current vacant lot between cabana and royal pacific will be for a cabana extension, that means the water park will go where Wn'W currently is. on the opposite side will be a new parking garage. So where will this proposed city walk go? This new city walk, I feel needs to have the ambience and be able to comepete with the great shopping plazas and restaurants of Sand lake road (area where season 52 and roccos tacos reside) as well as the shopping plaza near wonderworks. They arent really on resort property so wouldnt that be their direct competition

Apparently the cost for the proposed Las Vegas one is $100 million, assuming the Florida one is in the same ballpark, who can afford it?

Is there space left in the I-drive live project for this? But then, since the projected opening date is new year's eve 2014, would it be feasible to have this massive construction still going on when they open?

As for Busch Gardens, I see two things wrong with constructing it there: (1) it would take away from Falcon's Fury and (2) as an observation desk to see the Serengeti, it really would be way too high ...

Now seaworld, I don't know, but somehow I could picture it there, but then it would take away from the skytower, hence they'd need to build it as a replacement of the skytower.

Citywalk 2.0 is so Bluesky it's not even funny. I'm thinking this will be built within the next 3 years. IF Citywalk 2.0 happens it won't happen for another 5-10 years. People can say what they want about Funspot but they're a company on the move. The built up the capital to build a couple rollercoasters, I think they can and will do it again.

I put Fun Spot in the poll but I voted based on an Orlando placement.
With the backtracking about Orlando I think now it will be BGT

My money is on BGT, no real basis to back this up other than the strong romour that gwazi is for the dozer early next year and a few little birdies have started to chirp. Could be a good replacement and would fit with the timeline, could also be well themed to fit and would give a great serengeti view as others have said. So put me down for $50 on BGT

I guess simply by process of elimination I'd say Busch Gardens. The whole concept just seems weird to me though, I'm kind of shocked they announced it to for sure be built in Florida in the first place.

What's to say this isn't some completely new company looking at building in the Orlando area? Or maybe Daytona Beach? There seems to be many options here.

I'm very skeptical of any Orlando or Tampa "park" getting this.

Yeah, the concept doesn't "fit" with any theme park in the area. But I don't see a roller coaster on the side of the road doing good business. In a town where most of the tourists are already here for theme parks, why would they pay to go on one roller coaster? In Vegas, this model works because the primary draw is gambling and that's a restrictive activity. In Orlando, you've got an over-saturated market already. Why am I going to pay $15 (a fifth of the price it costs me to get into the theme park I'm more than likely there to visit) to ride one roller coaster? It's not like locals are going to be attracted to it, either. I mean, sure, some people, but again why would I pay $15 to ride ONE roller coaster when I have Annual Passes to the other parks (btw, this $15 number just comes from my experience with coaster charges in Vegas).

The whole thing just seems like a weird idea. If it's seriously going to be a standalone attraction, I think Orlando is the wrong place for it. It would be better suited in New York, Vegas, or even Wisconsin Dells. In my personal opinion.

It just does not seem like a theme part attraction to me. So let me be the first to say Florida State Fairgrounds, Hard Rock Casino, or Kennedy Space Center  Heck it could go in Daytona Beach near the boardwalk. If you've seen their water park or Ocean Walk you know they'll do things that defy all logic :pound:

I'm thinking it will fit in pretty good with the new section of I-Drive. One thing that interests me a lot though is the banner on the top. The only places I can think that would be able to fully utilize it would be Downtown Disney, City Walk, or Downtown Orlando to promote venues.

Well it is "the tallest" in the world and the top part does have observation towers/restaurants and whatever else you want to put up there...so it does have something 'more' to it than just a coaster...heck I'd visit..

As for Citywalk, BGT, etc. I hope this does not make it into any theme park as it will certainly be an eyesore and very unnecessary
