SeaWorld or not, I don't think any new additions at parks, especially a gentle transport outside a land aimed towards kids should be met with such disdain.

The only part I really don't get is why this has a 42" height requirement, the same way Seuss has a 40". By the time you're tall enough to ride, you really don't care for rides like this.

Because both utilize an elevated rail, similar to the Peoplemover, but there's no railings along side parts of both rides, unlike the peoplemover, meaning a height requirement needs to be put in place for a certain height so there isn't a tragic incident.

Per the Seaworld website, the 42" requirement is only for guests riding unsupervised. Otherwise, the only requirement is being able to walk unassisted.

Wait - you have to be ambulatory to ride that?

Someone call the ADA. That's some BS right there.

I don't know what exactly would qualify as an ADA violation. But "ability to walk unassisted" only applies to "small children". What it says exactly is:

"Guests must be at least 42” or accompanied by a supervising companion (14 years or older). Small children must demonstrate the ability to walk unassisted."

Most of their rides are like that though. Think the whole Mako Sharks Wreck Reef area in SWO.

I just watched the POV for this ride and..............started to wonder if this was some kind of joke.

I'm not going to accept any excuses that this was just a kids ride or designed to be kid friendly...it seems the entire budget went into the ride system and vehicles and nothing else.

There's a TON of inexpensive things they could have done to make this ride decent.

Just having their workers in those Katie Perry shark costumes flailing their arms at all the bends would have been super cheap considering they're now in the costume discount bin.

Can anybody post the contents of the article because it isn't letting me view it as I am in Europe?

I'm not sure that's allowed. But I can summarize the article: the ride rarely operates, and hasn't operated this year at all. It's been removed from the SeaWorld website. SeaWorld says the ride is "currently undergoing maintenance", but no one has seen any evidence of work being done on the ride.

Apparently, management is pursuing a lawsuit against the manufacturer of the ride. According to Screamscape, they have to keep the ride in SBNO to use as evidence for their claim. Definitely going to be closed for a while.

Once is all said and done, if they can still operate the ride, maybe they can enclose the ride and make it a proper dark ride.....like it should've been in the first place.

Maybe they are suing because the manufacturer said this ride would be great and super well-received :)

Hard to believe that the SeaWorld execs didn't know what they were getting. They either weren't paying attention, in which they should get fired, or they were paying attention and thought this would work, in which case they should also get fired.

I believe the execs who made this decision have already left the company, so that's a prophesy already fulfilled. Still, current management has to deal with the mess.
