So, this may be bending the other theme parks category a bit. But this place is oddball, and some might appreciate the amusement park elements in the attraction. (There is a massive carousel, you just can't ride it..)

The House on the Rock is a tourist attraction located in southwest Wisconsin. It started as a private home constructed atop a rock formation, situated in a valley overlooking the Wisconsin River. The project attracted a lot of attention so the owner started charging admission to tour the place. Things kind of snowballed from there, and he kept investing back into the place. Fast forward to today and The House on the Rock is a massive complex of buildings that houses giant collections of just about anything you can imagine. That includes a carousel, tons of music machines that you can plug, and lots of oriental art.

Here are a few photos of my recent visit. Has anyone else been?

Warning: Sensory overload ahead...

There are some amazing gardens as well.

A visitor center and introductory exhibit was added a few years ago. Little bits of the attraction are scattered throughout.

This gives a good idea of the aesthetic, and dim lighting throughout the place.

The Infinity Room is a structure that juts out over the valley, unsupported for over 200 ft.

The window at the end of the room. There's probably no easy way of removing that nest...

A bit of the art found in the main house. This was a tabletop.

From the roof.

There is no good way to photograph the rooms in the house, or the rest of the complex for that matter. There is so much to see, and the paths meander every which-way.

One last photo from the house.

This is from the Mill House. One of the first structures built after the original house.

Next is a recreation of a Victorian era street setting complete with various shop windows and houses.

At the end of the street is the first of the massive music machines.

So there's the first part. I will post more later. Hopefully I uploaded the images correctly. I'm still embarrassingly inexperienced with posting in forums. :blank:
