Some people over on WDWMagic are hoping the date being pushed back to summer 2025 has something to do with Monsters going into AC over Muppets FWIW.

I think it has more to do with Epic Universe than Monsters. With this delay, they now have the Mermaid show, the Villains show, Starlight, and Test Track 3.0 all opening within the summer 2025 timeframe. I wouldn't be surprised if Zootopia gets pushed back to summer as well to coincide with Dinoland's closure.

Of course, I could be wrong. Perhaps the AC closure combined with actual project delays would necessitate some onerous relocation of backstage facilities that they weren't previously accounting for.

EDIT: Also, if they had already internally decided to get rid of AC, why not spread the good word as soon as possible, and relieve us of the psychic weight of the hypothetical closure of the Muppets Courtyard?

To add to your point, other people on WDWMagic (not the departed Henry Mystic who insisted in was AC), have pointed out seeing height balloons behind Muppets. Remember, those were spotted behind the ITTAB theater in Bugs Land around fall 2017, then in March 2018, ITTAB was shuttered alongside the announcement Bugs Land was closing later that year to make way for Avengers Campus.

Honestly, with how desolate AC is, I don’t think Disney would see a NEED to announce it so far ahead of time like they would for muppetvision. Also why would they delay it by 8 months and not have filed permits yet (they mention it in the article) something that was supposed to open in the fall for NO REASON? I think muppets are safe. And no, we are never gonna get an official “muppets is safe” announcement imo.

My opinion: You can never have too many live entertainment shows at theme parks.....Looking forward to this and Villains show.
