True. But he was undoubtably cast to be a Shunpike-esque character. I'm willing to bet the actor will imitate a bit of cockney.

There's been cameras as long as I can remember. As a result of IRA bombings a CCTV 'Ring of steel' was installed mid 90s

That metal block is incredibly authentic to a lot of London tube stations (minus some rust) - Whilst it may not be present in that way on Leicester Square station itself, it fits well with the overall style they're going for.

The only thing bugging me is the fountain, it's considerably more 'fountainey' than the original in the way it has large comet nozzle jets in the top section.

It's done that way for exaggeration and overall effect. Same reason full columns replaced the flat pilasters on the Wyndham facade. Much more dramatic.

Plus Stan Shunpike is a Death Eater in the books and no one knows what happened to him after the battle of Hogwarts, so there's always that added reason too for it not being him.

I was begging for more fountainy... The one in Picadilly is pathetic... probably a power and water saving measure for the city of London. Paris and Versailles have the same pissy water policy.

Regarding the steel beam... having it present on the facade is tantamount to having the water pump sitting on the pavement next to the fountain.

It sounds like the Gringotts TM previews are going on right now.

Just my interpretation from a comment from a TM, FWIW. Could be something else like mock service testing or training I suppose.

Last I heard, evacuation training hasn't taken place yet. Can't do TM previews before that.

If TM previews are going on it's for Diagon Alley, not general TMs. Even then I'm doubtful.

If you search "gringotts" on twitter, there's at least one TM talking about being on the spot and in costume, but not doing much of anything. So there's that.

Don't read much into it. Remember the SDMT panic? (Yes I've leaned my lesson there)
