I’ve said it before but I think I kind of struck gold during speculation season with my Van Helsing vs the Monsters house. Have it serve as a reboot, have it be like the original UCM house except with gruesome massacres, have the final scene be a rotating battle between Helsing and a different monster, etc.

Some ideas work, some don’t. Clearly this year it kind of fell flat. Just stick to what makes the Monsters great and the established lore great.

As good as Bride Lives/Legends both were, we REALLY need to STOP collabing with Orlando. They're dragging our Universal Monsters houses down.

We can share a concept if we must, but they should be completely separate entities. If we can do Frankie/Wolfie in 2019 when they essentially did "all monsters", there is no excuse for both events not to do their own thing.

I'll say it again, I'd love to know Murdy's breakdown of this house because he never actually discussed it.

Honestly, I think at this point the big issue isn't so much with the concepts themselves or synergy with Orlando, I think post-Legends Collide the monsters houses have sorta just become a big budget cut unto themselves. Idk if it has to do with them just garnering less interest on surveys or attendance from general guests, but it was made pretty clear that Unmasked was a significant victim of budget cuts that led to a lot of set loss from the treatment to the final house, and given how many flaws Unmasked had that Eternal Bloodlines shares, I kinda have to assume it's the same situation.

I feel like it can't be a coincidence that we hear about a monsters house losing a lot of material, and then suddenly every monsters house takes place in a crypt or other smaller scale sets that are easier on the budget, and each of those scenes are broken up with lengthy transitions for pretty simple story beats. Bride of Frankenstein Lives did virtually the same thing, but it felt significantly more cohesive despite being off the heels of a pandemic lockdown, so I really have to think these days it's a matter of just not having enough money allocated.

An interesting thought crossed my in regards to our short-lived original character Saskia Van Helsing.

I wonder if she was loosely inspired by Kate Beckinsale's character (Anna Valerious) in Van Helsing who also meets her surprising unfortunate demise (only less brutal).

Again, we need a proper Murdy breakdown.

My two cents about this:

I mean, yeah, she is kind of a waste to be dead before she has a chance to breath as a character...but she also made powerful allies with a character that literally specializes in reanimation and reresection and who is still alive/even more motivated to seek revenge. I doubt we would be in for a brooding, introspective "I've become the very thing I despise the most in this world...a monster!" take from Saskia if she was brought back Frankie style, but it would make for a dope "revamp" (pun intended) of this house if she comes back and her and Bride girlboss their way through the other monsters

:eyes: :scream: omg... i can't believe I didn't even think of that. Now i want it!! But really it only seems to be a war against Dracula's Daughter (and She-wolf by way of the Blood Moon manipulation due to Dracula's Daughter). Still say Mummy is just an innocent cameo with zero actual reason to be there other than as a prisoner.

Anyway, back to what you said. Again, yes. Please! This also just further solidifies that HHN knows how to handle the Universal Monsters for the modern audience better than the Studio!

Better idea: Just straight up do a Van Helsing house. Make it more intense than that year-round house they did all of those years ago. Would've been great for this year considering that this year is the 20th anniversary for that movie.

Still think they should've just gone with a simple house concept of just focusing on Dracula.

Last time we had that is a story better left "UNTOLD". Currently Dracula is "Dead" (and loving it)

It should have just been House of Horrors: Reborn to honor the 10th Anniversary of the original ride closing.. It could have been Hollywood's Dueling Dragons situation.. nostalgic USH attraction resurrected as an HHN house..

Hot take: house of horrors was only good because they projected clips on a wall in a backstage stairwell

It was good because it was a well themed 3 level haunted attraction that was still good even when not fully staffed. ....and the queue was a mini museum

Back to HHN 24, I still believe many parts (most of them used) are from the former attraction for this house. As I already pointed out, the one tombstone is a prop from the former Special Effects show
