I actually love that. Especially when I'm looking to order pizza, it's real convenient. Plus, it reminds me I'm in Orlando. :hat:

I rather go with whatever the hotel has to offer with room service or citywalk. When i stay at a resort hotel i don't want things like that cheapening my trip.

Yeah, okay. After a long day at the parks, sometimes you just want pizza delivered to your room. Well, the lobby technically.

Every night (after 10pm) I returned to the hotel last week, Delisio's (sp?) was set up opposite the Bayliner Diner selling pizza. No idea if this is any good or not but it seemed convenient.

I'm pretty sure their pizza is the same as the pizza served at the bowling alley. It isn't bad but nothing to write home about either.

Interesting review of the Cabana Bay Pool, check out this part about the pool:

"The most disturbing thing of all was their surprise drills. I watched as an employee in a visor hide and then throw a fake plastic baby in the lazy river. Guests gasped and the lifeguard dove in. An older woman was practically shaking. It happened again in the large pool and the lifeguard was extremely slow to respond and then took his sweet time to come to the aid of this creepy torso. His, I assume boss, told him he had killed the baby. 10 or so guests did not know what was happening and looked on in horror. Look, I get it, keep them on their toes, but really?"

This is kinda shocking, kinda funny, and kind of interesting. Has anybody else seen this?

I didn't see this at CBBR on my Sept. trip, but on the second leg of our trip this happened at the Royal Pacific pool when we stayed there. I don't know who threw the baby in though. It seemed like a patron did it. I didn't see it being done by a life guard. It sure was creepy though.

Personally this would make me feel more comfortable about the lifeguards. I'm sure it may look strange but needing to pass the test in a crowded environment is a lot different than passing the test with only a few people or all lifeguards there. Of course the pool is only 4-5 feet deep so if you can't rescue someone in a pool that you can stand up in lifeguard may not be the best career choice.

Aren't all places with a lifeguard required to do this? The key is it's gotta be a surprise and while people are using the pool or it's pointless. But it was not a good idea for the supervisor to give a bad review in earshot of guests.

While I worked at Adventure Island, I heard of surprise tests that were being administered on-the-job every once in awhile. I wasn't involved since I wasn't a lifeguard, but I would hear about it in the break room, basically they were told to just be ready that day and know what they had to do in all cases. Someone from American Red Cross was on hand.

Except, you know, it's super profitable.

That being said, I hope the two people that were injured last night are doing fine.

I've never heard of these drills or seen them myself, but it makes sense as a way to test their lifesaving abilities. I don't have a problem with it, but I suppose if guests think it's a real baby then of course they would get freaked out. Maybe they could make an announcement that it's just a drill?

I saw the baby drill when I was at Cabana Bay. SUPER disturbing and should not be done in front of guests. My heart was palpitating.

so they should do it when no one is in the pool and the lifeguard is expecting it? that's a great test

Oh yeah. That's the only possible way to do a drill. The last thing you want to think about when you're lounging poolside on vacation is that there might be possibly be a dead baby in the pool. So GFY.

Wow. They need to be done during a regular shift and while there is real life conditions or it is completely pointless. Having a special shift to play find the fake baby does nothing to test alertness and response times. I would much rather have a fake baby in the pool than a real dead baby. So GFY if you would rather just not think about it than for them to actually prepare to prevent it from happening.

Trust me. I've been in lots of hotel pools and never seen that before. It's quite the killjoy. They could figure out another option.

Relax, dude.

I've been at swimming pools during these exercises. They are so frightening and make me nauseous UNTIL I find out why they are doing it. I'd rather have lifeguards who are prepared under any circumstances, anyways.
