That would mean I would have 1 correct prediction under my belt here at OU! I sure hope I'm right.

Don't get your hopes up. Not like anyone has ever confused DLR or WDW for each other before.

Also: contract. Not happening.

But isn't GOTG free of the contract terms?

I'd say it's probably a gray area.

If WDW and Uni really negotiated on something, i'd say there's a fair chance part of it was in order for Universal to go forward with a Cinematic look and other things likely discussed, remove the F4/X-Men from the area AND allow GotG in WDW without giving them poop. That's really not too much to ask considering Guardians is pretty much able to (and has) been used at WDW already in not only the movie preview but in Meet & Greets.

Universal considers this a major asset they pay little to promote. Marvel is not a negotiating item in any serious sense with Disney. Disney still is fearful of sending Ant-Man buses to parks. Disney will only get anything from Universal through legal proceedings, not negotiations.

Lets put it this way, Universal has Disney in a lose lose situation, why would they concede?

They're in a lose-lose from YOUR perspective as a theme park fan.

As an industry person, i'd say Disney has it pretty good with this Marvel contract. Sure, they have to work around things to promote their product, but they make a % of the merchandise sold, they get free advertising in park and they still get to use the theme park rights in all of their other parks.

Disney makes money off of this deal no matter what. It's only a "lose-lose" in your eyes because WDW can't do much of anything with the product. In reality, it's not that big of a deal.

It's a lose lose with the theme park contract. Disney either pays for the advertising of a competing park, giving resources to them from a subsidiary, and cannot change this fact or they give up more money than they could ever imagine. That's the lose lose.

I don't really see that as a big expense to a company like a Disney and Obviously Disney isn't shelling out for the FL rights.

I also don't see why you refuse to believe GotG can be used, even though they have in the past multiple times with Star Lord & Gamora doing M&G's.

I just want a GotG ride at a theme park that desperately needs it. Does "If you can dream it, you can do it, screw the legal stuff!", mean nothing to you all? #GotGforDHS

Because with Guardians ride - they will not be able to use their villains since they're part of Avengers family. Guardians falls outside of that. So they'll be settling. They also will have to rely on Guardians being the Marvel property to rely upon when you know they'd prefer to use the bigger names. It also will be in a park with a heavy Star Wars presence, which the movie was compared to.

I love GotG but it just seems like a lot of settling.

I understand all of that. I'm not campaigning for DHS as much as i'm just trying to get the lines drawn that the property is able to be used in WDW, which it seems some people don't fully comprehend.

Trust me, I don't want a GotG ride done without the villains either.

It is very much a grey area, but it's the closest WDW has to even a M&G in the park. Which, i'll agree, it must be a super grey are at the moment as they have shown the preview and done M&G's on exactly 2 dates - both private events.

They obviously don't feel they have the ability to use them on a daily basis yet (if ever). They could still be trying to find a loophole or whatever, but I can guarantee if they had found one, Star Lord and Gamora would be out regularly in DHS, especially with how much they've been closing lately.

Just saying it's not an open and shut case.

I get all that...

I'm now saying it may not be as grey, and more open & shut, as we once thought.

Aren't Guardians going to be folded into the Avengers with the upcoming cinematic universe films? The villains that have come up so far are indicative that the Guardians are in the same universe as the Avengers.

I love all this talk about the Uni and Disney contract and all of the workarounds Disney has to do when they've literally done jack for Marvel except for movie previews and meet-and-greets in their 7 other parks around the world not affected by the contract terms. Thankfully that will change with Iron Man in Hong Kong next year.
