The big gate haha (the only gate?)

We constantly still see testing where it struggles or stops halfway through, it doesn't seem consistent.

Heck, maybe its part of the ride, but i find it odd the vehicle doesn't clear those doors quickly so the show doors can shut and stage lighting can do its job..

Sorry, sometimes on here gate could mean the oddest thing. I think the slowness might be due to the combo of the bumpy steps and having to make a serious turn right at the same time. The other possibility is that they are testing the show door's trigger to work and close the gates as this has been an ISSUE...

Man, isn't is crazy how some elements you think are no brainers, like proximity sensors or whatever they use here could be so troublesome.

Really steps up the appreciation for how many working pieces have to work fluidly.

Hoping if I don't see a soft in May, I'll at least see some queue elements and more testing!

Trust me, there have been so many issues with the vehicles that I have buried my head in my hands. Otherwise, I have been shamefully silent about the fails. Another one of the more comical mishaps I will tell you after it opens. It was pathetic...

Not that I even had expectations for a menu, but it's still sort of disappointing how generic these offerings are.

depends what the dispatch times between vehicles is, as there will need to be a decent amount of room between.

Capacity will certainly be good, but I actually don't think it will be as good as some are thinking it will.

Hello all,

I have been lurking on this thread for a few days and I signed up for an account because I have some questions, I hope they are not too stupid. I will be visiting the Universal parks for the first time June 16-18. From what I am reading, it seems fair to assume that the attraction will be in soft openings at this time, is that correct? Furthermore, what constitutes a "soft opening", exactly? Can we expect the ride to be fully operational? And given that it will be my first visit and who knows if I will ever get to come back, would it be worth the time it takes, or should it be skipped and that time better allocated elsewhere?

And a mostly unrelated question, can we expect that the Hulk coaster will have reopened?

Thanks in advance to any and all answers and/or advice!

Welcome to OU...Soft openings are to hone the attraction's operation to make sure it runs smooth technically and operations wise. The ride may be shut down at any time. I would guess that Kong should be running often by the time you vacation. Hulk is a big unknown at this stage in time. Kong will be a major E ticket attraction. If it was me, in your situation, I would definitely try to ride it while on vacation.

Welcome! No question is stupid as this project is still in flux.

It is LIKELY you will be able to ride. It is far from a guarantee.

Soft openings are when the attraction is tested with guests for limited amounts of time to get operators experienced and to work out any remaining issues. Softs can happen any time after attractions operations gets control of the building from UC, which to my knowledge they have not yet.

Your best bet is to use a touring plan from TouringPlans.com or Orlando Informer and watch Twitter accounts for the status of Kong softs (orlando United, touring plans, attraction magazine, and orlando informer are good ones for info) and read the forum up until your trip for more information.

Hulk is unlikely to open by that date from what I've heard. But I'm not entirely sure.

I don't believe hunk will be open by then as far as I know. Soft openings for Kong are almost guaranteed at that time as it would be very close to opening and are usually the full ride experience, but not a guarantee that something will not malfunction. There is also no guarantee on the capacity of the ride and operating hours on those days. You might have to check the area a few times. Asking beforehand is never stupid vs going to the park with assumptions.

Only ride that had the public on it before employees was Gringotts and that wasn't even "public" softs. The select hotel guests with potter packages rode it and that was a trainwreck. TMs only got to experience the queue line before everyone because the ride wasn't ready.

That was FJ, not Gringotts. Yeah, I remember it feeling strange that the TMs were asking me for details after I rode. Glad I booked into RPR when I did.

You're questions weren't stupid. You know what is stupid though? My sister wants me to plan her school field trip to Universal, and one of her friends is telling the entire school that the reason they rebuilt Hulk was because the train derailed and killed people.
