Richard Bilbao has a short article in the Orlando Business Journal about Fast. It says the build out budget is 17 million. That can't be the entire ride budget. Maybe that is for some level of the initial/construction work and not the actual ride interior.

I think he forgot a zero? Maybe $170Mil...17 would barely cover the queue

That was my first guess. I gave him the benefit of a doubt since it was in the title of the article.

Can't we have a ride that's fast AND a well done immersive experience? It's been done before...

First rule of theme park design club is to be completely ignorant of any previous theme park design, in particular of the building you are presently assigned to work on.

The Gringotts ride system would actually be pretty neat imo. You could do things like mix controlled spinning with turns to simulate drifts, etc.

Agreed, although doesn't Gringotts have a much larger footprint than the available space for F&F?

If you're referring to the Test Track vehicle, I wouldn't be surprised if Disney Imagineering holds an encyclopedia of patents on that tech. I thought they designed that ride system entirely in-house, no?

I think an indoor wild mouse coaster could work here. Compact ride system, and newer ones have loops, beyond 90 degree drops, zero G rolls, etc. Plus, you could add car "drifting" features pretty easily. Couple that with great theming throughout the ride, some brake section AA scenes (like The Mummy), and you have a AAA thrill attraction in a compact footprint. Wild mouse coasters tend to be outside and have cutsy themes, if any, but I think the potential is there for a lot more, especially if it's all/mostly indoors. An outdoor section like Test Track would be neat though.

The Spiderman/Transformers ride vehicle would be my second choice, but they really don't need a third ride of that type on the resort. Transformers was a pretty "meh" ride for me anyway. Spiderman was so much more immersive for me.

The Test Track ride system I believe is one that Disney holds the most patents around

I'm guessing they aren't much into sharing. Universal could trade them some used green roller coaster track. :D

Still upset Universal hasn't done a true SFX coaster yet, Mummy and Gringots combined on steroids.

As opposed to actually going fast in a car?:)

I drive at 70+mph to get to Universal. I don't really feel any need to go fast while I'm there.

I thought that as well but you feel a lot more exposed and open in the test track cars than you do on a freeway, even in a convertible.

Or maybe some IP rights for a certain group of guardians of a certain galaxy.

Test Track is more fun than driving.:)

I am sure that Universal could get a lot more for GotG than just patents.

Not me. I am glad to see it gone. I'm extra glad they leveled it so there's no chance of it coming back.:saw:

I liked Disaster but also think now is a good time to give it a replacement... with something similarly unique and using sets. Not the Kong system without any of the elements that made RoK unique or interesting.

Not to mention this is the second time Uni is reusing a ride system like this. I can give a pass for Transformers because I feel it puts you in the action very well but F&F just looks like dog :poop: based on USH.
