    General Movies & TV Thread

If Toy Story 5 wasn’t announced during an earnings call, I’d feel a lot better about it. Toy Story 4 was announced by the creative team. Their message was simple: Toy Story had the perfect ending and we needed a story special enough to add to that coda. I had the sense that Disney had waited to...

Universal Kids Resort - Frisco, Texas

I think the flagship dark ride + roller coaster is going to be way smaller than everyone is thinking. I’m willing to bet that this entire park will cost less than Diagon Alley to construct. Diagon Alley was $250M if I recall correctly.

Universal Kids Resort - Frisco, Texas

I’m not thinking there will be a hotel built as part of this. Six Flags doesn’t build hotels for their parks. This is meant to attract everyone in the DFW region.

Universal Horror Unleashed - Las Vegas, NV

This makes me want to visit Vegas even more! Wish we had a date.

    Universal’s Great Movie Escape

Is the JW room not open yet? Or does it just have dramatically less hype than the BttF room?

    D23 Expo 2022 - News & Rumors

The whole Blue Sky section was super weird. It was all Orlando targeted and confirmed nothing. I really think Disney doesn’t know if Epic Universe will succeed or not. If it thinks it’ll flop, they won’t announce anything. If they think it’ll be a wild success, they’ll green light everything...

    Universal’s Great Movie Escape

Do we know the number of escape rooms? Seems like this is gonna be a crazy low capacity attraction. Maybe even the lowest capacity thing Disney or Universal have ever built?

    Avatar: The Way Of Water

There’s probably only a dozen theaters in the country that will show it in 4K 3D 48fps. The Hobbit was in 48fps and it’s now impossible to find a print of it anywhere.

    Avatar: The Way Of Water

Avatar 2 is also going to have the Disney marketing machine behind it in full force. Disney’s marketing machine only seems to fail when they don’t have a strong brand to fall back on (Nutcracker, Dumbo). This won’t be the case.

    Universal's Epic Universe Hotel Speculation

The funny thing is that Disney doesn’t have those outside of DVC. Maybe that’s where the market is? It would be really foolish for Universal to get into the timeshare business.

    Universal's Epic Universe Hotel Speculation

I would love to see some data showing how popular the themed rooms are. Universal isn’t expanding the number of them, so that feels not great. On the other hand, they’re ludicrously expensive, so that might explain soft demand.

    MoviePass

I’ll bet money this never launches. MoviePass got the chains to launch their own programs and I love that. But, unless you own the theaters, you can’t make the numbers work. No amount of advertising or data nonsense is going to change that’s

    DisneyForward Expansion Project

I don’t think anything will happen with Disneyland Forward for probably the next decade. This was Disney playing the long game. The plan was announced during Anaheim’s most perilous moment. This was just Disney realizing that they had a window to get something they wanted.

Revenge of the Mummy Refurbishment (Late 2022)

I’m assuming that a refurb of this size means that the Mummy is here to stay for a long time. Does that seem accurate?

    Space 220

Epcot now has two fancy multi-course restaurants (this and the Japan pavilion one). I just don’t get it. You’ve paid so much to get into the gate at Epcot. You have limited time. You’re gonna spend all of your time at one of these fancy meals? These multi-course meals make sense at CityWalk or...

    Disneyland Resort

What?! Am I the only one that thinks this reads as parody? I mean, I get it. Jessica Rabbit has had more of a cultural impact than anything else in this movie (this many decades out anyways). But, this whole thing just seems weird. I love Toontown, so I’m all for anything to make Toontown better.

    Universal Orlando Resort Misc Refurbs

I’m so excited to see how they spruce up Camp Jurassic and not demolish any part of it! Seriously, I will stage a one person riot when they tear down Camp Jurassic

Walt Disney World Tech News & Discussion- Magic Bands, Genie+, and more

I came away cautiously optimistic about all of this. Of course, I’m not a local. I adore MaxPass at Disneyland and would love it at World. If you use it right, you can practically double the amount of stuff you do. As for LL+…I really hate virtual queues. As much as this creates poor...

    Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

I keep thinking that this should be a daytime experience and not a hotel. If this was a Discovery Cove-style boutique park for $500/person a day, I think everybody would think this is the coolest thing ever.
