Universal's Epic Universe General News & Discussion

Ironically, EPCOT opened in just as bas a shape as USF (Literally only the Mexico boat ride was working by 11am. And nearly throwing people out of the car on SpaceShip Earth). Difference? Dianey worked quickly to fix (permanent or temporary) and didn't have an official press event for another...

Universal's Epic Universe General News & Discussion

Heck, Disney announced the opening day of the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT with the initial announcement, years in advance LOL Now, of course, they announce and quietly abandon. But... if Universal waits too long, the summer crowd will already have booked their hotels, and planned out their trip --...

Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic (Epic Universe)

The last thing Universal wants is any of their parks get a reputation for being a "kiddie park" like the MK does. It restricts Disney from doing stuff in the MK aimed at older kids (look at what happened with Alien Encounter).

Tropical Americas w/ Encanto & Indiana Jones to replace DinoLand?

Missed Tiki Room, Treehouse (walk through but still an attraction), Hall of Presidents etc. There's over 30 attractions. When I worked there we never used the term "rides" - it elways attractions or adventures.

    Disneyland Resort

They'd have to compete with the long-established Gay Days - it's probably easier to reap the benefits without having to schedule a special day, after hours, set up hotels etc. Disneyland is a locals park, WDW is not.

Tropical Americas w/ Encanto & Indiana Jones to replace DinoLand?

Nah. I mean Sleeping Beauty bombed so hard it cost Disney to lose money for the first time (company, not just the film). But they still built a walkthrough and the characters were always present in the park

Skull Island: Reign of Kong - General Discussion

Its Dolby 3D which uses a shift in frequency of the film - can either be done with 1 or 2 projectors depending on the setup. It provides a brighter, sharper picture with less crosstalk than polarized 3D. The drawback is the glasses aren't cheap. Here's a good article...

    General Movies & TV Thread

The world got along just fine for hundreds of years without movies or TV. Do they make life enjoyable? Absolutely. But are they a necessity, like food and water? No.

Skull Island: Reign of Kong - General Discussion

If 8k at 60+ FPS looks blurry, its never going to look better, 3D or 2D

No movie needs to exist. :)

    Remy's Ratatouille Adventure

Once again much go the "gags" will no longer work, as they were designed with 3D in mind

Skull Island: Reign of Kong - General Discussion

This ride was specifically designed for 3D. It used 8k, HFR and 3D to all combine to sell the feeling you're outside. Without it, it will just be flat screens and the illusion will be broken (F&F was designed to be 3D and, while nothing will make it good, removing the 3D arguably made it worse)

Universal's Epic Universe General News & Discussion

Oz would be ok, but it's never been very successful in previous theme park attempts.

    Super Nintendo World (Osaka)

Nintendo wanted a family friendly ride, not a fast one.

    Celestial Park (Epic Universe)

DisneySea has a hotel thats literally in the park.

    Universal's Epic Universe Construction Thread

Very few rides come close to that - Small World and Pirates do (Small World because it was originally designed for the NYWF which had 50 million visitors in 12 months - still short of the planned 70 million). But most rides hover between 1500-2000 pph

    Transformers: The Ride - 3D

Spiderman, unlike T3D, has cars always in motion. T3D often pauses.
