I know the coaster people will love it but....I just per the Big Thunder Mountain style coaster. I want themeing, I want something I can't just go down to Six flags and Knotts and do...there are coaster all over this state and I know spinning is "new" but I also rather this be like a BTTF ride where like themeing and an amazing start where you see lightening hit a tower and blast off

I just hope people on here are right, if this coaster draws people and we get longer park hours past 6 PM, then cool if its just the same old same old then....to me this is mostly a waste outside some hardcore coaster fans. So I'm hoping it can draw the people, that people on here think it will be or to me its kind of a waste because one again we could have gotten a themed coaster and now we have this and if its not drawing people in then your just hitting one audience and pushing most people to not care because it will be too extreme for both kids and older people.

But I'm willing to wait and see the results after

I was hoping for more theming too. Ride will for sure be fun, no doubt about it. But, I too am wondering how it’ll perform long term.
The ride clocking in at only sixty seconds is picking up steam on social media, which could lead to more mixed reviews.

I'm pretty excited to see the effects and reviews for this ride and how it changes over time

I think coaster people will go nuts for it and maybe some will speak out because of the length

Its more the general audience, whats funny is all three coasters at the park are short. Like The Mummy I remember waiting in a long...long line to get on it and was pretty disappointed when I got off...like waiting 90+ mins for the Mummy can be rough when its coaster time is so short

The Mummy now mostly you can get on much quicker so I like it when I can get on it quickly and wonder if thats what will happen for this coaster as well or if it being so thrilling for many will be enough to ignore its low ride time and lack of effects/theming

Although I do agree with preferring a more themed attraction in most cases, (i always found it weird that people wanted a Back to the Future *roller coaster* vs a more immersive attraction) I'm glad Universal is finally doing something with of their biggest franchise that isn't cheap and lazy.

I mean I guess it depends on what you count as cheap

For me themeing is what sets USH and DIsneyland over Sea World and Six Flags

The coaster got money but the Q and ride themeing....its just not for me. I hope they do something interesting, we just got the second or best Q int he park with MK and funny enough its the best Q of any of the MK rides because they put extra budget into the Q by adding part of the Yoshi ride Q....but here its going to be cars and palm trees.....

From my perspective as a none fan of the series is these rides are suppose to draw in people like me and be like "wow maybe I should check this out" but the Q and ride effects seem to be...just not there and the coaster has almost nothing to do with the movies so for me its just strange but doing my best to see how it all turns out in the end but mty hopes aren't high as a fan of theming and storytelling

From actual launch from the raptor tunnel to when the train slows down to start returning to the station, Velocicoaster is a little over a minute, too. I’d argue that the spinning/drifting factor should be taken into account in regards to F&F’s overall length: If we got some two- or three-minute coaster that’s spinning around that entire time, it might actually turn more people away because that’d be a lot for people to handle.

Universal could’ve easily figured a minute or so is the sweet spot on how long a coaster with this sort of gimmick can be before it becomes “too much,” and it’s easy to sit here and judge its length without actually experiencing it first and knowing whether or not, “I could’ve” or “I couldn’t have handled another minute of that.”

And I’m just going to throw this out there, but I think it’s easy to overestimate the general public’s interest in theming, especially when you’re in a niche theme park forum where people naturally do care about that stuff. Most people simply aren’t going to care if there’s theming during the actual coaster so long as it’s fun, music is playing, and they get off it with a smile on their face.

It’s a miracle this coaster even exists for a lot of us old enough to have always thought nothing like it could because of the neighbors, etc., and for the millionth time, it’s going to be insanely popular with park goers. Personally knowing numerous people who haven’t been to Universal in years (or only go to HHN) but are ready to buy tickets and even APs because of this coaster’s existence, I can’t believe we’re still stuck on the idea that only “hard core coaster fans” will care about this.

If themeing was not important to the public then Knotts, Disneyland, Universal would not be at the top of parks people visit

At this point if your putting 1,000 of dollars into a vacation most people want the best expedience overall and not just thrills.

Also if themeing was not important then why is Hargrids so popular? Disneyland literally has Big Thunder and it has like double the capacity of most coasters and still gets as long of lines as most coasters at Six Flags thats with the ride eating more people. All the data I see shows people care about themeing and story telling, its why people are willing to pay as much as they are to go to Universal and Disney

Exactly what I wanted to say. I like the ride concept yet currently not satisfied all with the direction they're going with this ride honestly. And those little things, like an extremely ugly wall detail(looks like a prison wall) right next to the main pathway, blocking the view of the sky bridge with very cheap looking material rather than glass, an oversized Fast and Furious sign right next to Hogsmith without any cohesiveness, clearly show their attitude toward theming and sightlines on this park. Their priority is wrong and this makes me concerned about those new security gates they're installing right now in CityWalk.

Quality over quantity, that's how Universal and disney differentiate from Six Flags but with this, USH is starting to act like a Six Flags park.

People still wait an hour to ride the Hulk at IOA, and the only “theming” during the experience is that it’s over water. It’s a fast, super thrill ride, where the speed is more important. Hagrid’s is a slower (in comparison) family coaster where the theming is intentionally baked into the experience and the storytelling and, therefore, inherently more important. F&F leans more towards Hulk than Hagrid’s, which is my whole point: If the ride is moving fast and spinning around outside, people aren’t going to care as much about whether they see an animatronic Vin Diesel for a split second standing with his arms crossed on the hillside because it’s not a narrative-focused ride by design.

That said, I’m not interested in debating with you over this because I know if I further explain what I mean, it’s not going to matter, as always. You alone have your finger on the pulse of society, and this ride is totally going to disappoint and not be popular with park goers at all. You’re absolutely right.

I feel like with how potentially intense this thing is, you wouldn’t even notice the show elements. The theming is that its perched on a mountain facing the LA skyline and has a drifting element. Itd definitely be nice if there was a pre first launch element or a break run scene, but with the cramped space this is working with, I can forgive it.

Also, the duration seems overall decent since basically every element looks punchy besides the mid course break.

This also includes queue experience, setting up the mood like a velocicoaster, everyone can understand that it may not be able to include much of theming on the high-speed rollercoaster. But before that, it's no excuses.

Imagine you're choosing one of the coffee shops to visit with a friend and the coffee would taste the same in all of locations. Would you go to a coffee shop with nice interior design, comfortable seats, good mood and music or a coffee shop with an outdated interior with a sticky table? Exactly.
