LA2028 on the Universal Lot

Officially announced today, LA2028 will be having Squash being played on the Universal lot. Squash, will be played infront of Courthouse Square as part of the games when they begin in 3 years time.

To remind people aswell, when LA2024 was being petitioned; NBCUniversal's lot would also be the centralized home of the IOC Broadcasting Committee for global news coverage on the lot. It is likely when they realigned to LA2028, that the IOC Broadcasting Committee would still be locked in to report and cover the LA2028 Olympics on the Universal lot.

Soo this won’t effect expansion plans right?

The interesting thing is that when the Park Lake soundstages were announced--it was reported and discussed that the additional soundstages would be coming online in time for the LA2024 Olympics; when it was announced. With the delay to LA2028, I would suspect that those remaining Park Lake soundstages will begin to be constructed within the next year--year and a half.

The Park Lake stages were meant to be a boon and aid for when the IOC set up their base camp, to allow press and news coverage to be broadcasted and done on the Universal lot. Atleast when things were announced then and there.

I also wonder as a byproduct of this; if we might see one or two additional sports being done on the lot. Would have to imagine Universal would love the further promotion and publicity that it comes with.
