So the girlfriend and I are discussing the possibility of a 13 day trip (11 if you include travel days) in Orlando at around mid-May.
I've been to Orlando before, but with my family, when we go, we stay in a villa, and my dad drove. This isn't an option for us, as neither of us drive, so what we're looking for is a hotel with good transportation to both the Disney and Universal resorts, preferably a complementary shuttle service that doesn't take too long, and is running constantly throughout the day. Being on International Drive would be a plus.
Money isn't too much of a concern, but the hotel should be suitable for couples (ie, no chance of "noise complaints" from families, if you understand where I'm getting at... :rofl
, not too interested in other hotel features aside from transportation and maybe a decent breakfast, I doubt we'll be spending much time in the hotel itself of a daytime, although a personal balcony would be great, I'm not too bothered about things like swimming pools, gyms, spas, etc.
Does anybody have any good recommendations for that criteria?
We're looking at 8 days in the parks (6 days Disney, 2 Universal), with 3 or 4 rest days, depending on how the travel works out. For those rest days, I wouldn't mind getting over to NASA or down to the swamps, but those could be a bit far out given our lack of transportation, any good recommendations "closer to home", so to speak?
Finally, my girlfriend seems to be walking bug food. I've never had issues, for some reason mosquitos just aren't attracted to me or my family. I can remember my last bug bite, it was about 8 years ago. However, whenever we go somewhere even remotely rural, my girlfriend seems to come back lumpier than a recent visitor to Disneyland California. Of course, as soon as she realised that much of Orlando was built on swamp land, she's become massively concerned with the prevalence of mosquitos. Is this going to be an issue for her?
