Just to clarify, I was referring to Knotts with the coaster. It's been almost a decade, and that park desperately needs more coaster capacity.

With SFMM I agree. The park needs alot more non coaster rides and experiences

Agreed another coaster next is not a bad deal but after that...I do think they need some more people eaters they only have....3 dark rides? And one of them really kinda of sucks

RIP Giga hopes and dreams.

Can they pull off the transition to a more family park? They tried this before and failed miserably. I thought for sure when the merger happened that Knott's would be more of the family park and SFMM the "thrill" park.

I don't think adding a family coaster or a dark ride are bad in isolation, I just hope they don't go too hard on making everything for kids.

This right here. Its the Thrill Capital of the World after all. I think a more family friendly ride should be implemented when it's a dead or empty part of the park that's too small for a huge coaster but just big enough for something to else to fill in the gap

I think we could still get a Giga if they make the decision to remove both X2 and Viper. But man is that a hefty expenditure. They would have to push back several high profile projects going to other parks to pull that off.

I like the idea of a Giga. I just don’t want them to pull a Kings Island and build a short Giga for the sake of saying they have one.
Orion is still fun don’t get me wrong but just slamming into the tall final brake run with all that speed left is disappointing.

Cedar Point would like to contest the title of "Thrill Capital of the World", including coaster quality, quantity, and availability (e.g., coasters open for riders).

Wonder how long it will be SBNO

Retiring X2 | Six Flags Magic Mountain

An operational update from Magic Mountain President Brian Oerding
www.sixflags.com www.sixflags.com

Six Flags Community:

After almost 20 years, we have decided to permanently retire X2.

Since X2 opened in 2008, it has welcomed more than 16 million guests and earned a passionate following among ride enthusiasts. We recognize the special place X2 holds in the coaster community, and we are grateful to our team members who operated and maintained it throughout its run.

While X2 consistently passed a multitude of safety tests, we have decided to close the ride because we believe it’s the right thing to do. Ride safety is a cornerstone of our business, and when we see guest confidence affected, we take it seriously.

Our purpose is to create FUN, thrills and a lifetime of memories by creating unforgettable experiences that are underpinned by comprehensive safety policies. To learn more about our ride safety program, visit our website at Ride Safety at Six Flags.

Not surprised but it doesn't help the park

That was the coaster...so I wonder how it will affect ride times as the park gets into busy seasons

I hope they redo the ride and make X3 but might just make a new coaster

There is a zero percent chance this happens.

Not a surprise….but I HATE this news.

I hope Magic Mountain is ready for a big attendance slump. I know a lot of people that only cared about this park because of X2.

Didn't X have huge issues and thats why we have X2?

If they made the ride smooth and also changed safety on it, I think it would get the biggest lines still and would cost much less then building a new coaster

Yeah honestly the only reason I’ve ever considering spending at day at Magic Mountain during a DL trip was because of X2. Without it I sadly don’t think it’ll ever be worth the distance for me. I never ended up going due to how inconsistent I would see ride availability and ripe ops were park wide.

One of the things I believe is a bit under-discussed is the location of X2 (literally the first thing you see when you drive into the park). I feel Whatever replaces it is going to need to keep that "wow" factor that guests have when driving into the park.. (also why I feel like it wont be SBNO for long)

So was there a reason why the park never wanted to retrack the last raven turn?
