Maybe something, maybe nothing, but Moira Oliver, the Head of Talent Acquisition for Universal Creative, recently commented on a recruitment process for a major new role currently being advertised for Universal Creative:


I've added the bold emphasis to the phrase that interests me most. I wonder what the "major project" might be...

You have a much, much better idea of what goes on in Universal Creative (because I have zero understanding), but from the reaction to the job advert from within the theme park creative community this seems like a seriously big deal. A very rare opportunity for a "park sized" deal, rather than "land sized" or "ride sized". But I completely accept that my wishful thinking might be reading far too much in to this than there actually is. Can you share what kind of project in Orlando this post might be responsible for?

Thanks. I'm assuming that the creative development for the UK project will be mostly based within the Universal Creative team in Orlando. Do you think that's likely? Is that how the Beijing park was designed, or did they do most of the work with a team in China?

I know it's not directly related, but the French park operator Puy du Fou has announced plans for a new park in the UK, less than an hour away from the Universal site.

It's an 'experience' park rather than having any rides, so don't think Universal would see them as a competitor, but suspect it actually supports Puy du Fou's plans given that Universal would ensure the right target audience is already in the region.

Don't get too excited. A while back they tried The Netherlands and Belgium but those project didn't go anywhere and are canceled.

Not to cause overreactions but just because it is Orlando-based does not preclude it from being a job overseeing Creative for UGB. Universal Creative is headquartered in Orlando, so all the Creatives and creative work for UGB would at the beginning be based in Orlando. So a job overseeing and leading the creative direction for UGB (and everything else that entails) would be Orlando-based until the actual infrastructure required to move UGB Creative to the UK is built (if it ever is).

Of course Alicia you probably have a better understanding so it's likely a Orlando centered project.

The job listing that said must be able to travel internationally is more likely for something like this. Even the Orlando based team would require travel if you’re a Creative Director or in any high position.

Oh, you should visit more often. We can create excitement from the smallest morsel of news, which might not even be news. I fear for our sanity when there’s proper information to get our teeth in to!

I'd say there would be property sale price and a 'package' for their trouble.

Long time viewing member here that’s finally bit the bullet!

I appreciate nothing has still been confirmed yet, however without getting my hopes up with Universal now purchasing houses along the way surely this is yet another good sign that they have made up there mind else they surely wouldn’t be going to these lengths now to make there lives easier in the long run or the iron out any potential hiccups before they occur?

Nice to see the most senior locally elected politicians across the region all getting together to put their weight behind Universal's proposal. Demonstrates that a world class theme park will benefit the entire region and beyond, not just the Bedford Council area.

I've been in touch with Bedford Council officers and they are currently waiting for the planning application information from the government in order to prepare the Council's response to the Special Development Order process.
