I would also argue Universal Great Britain is the strongest name so far imo

I walked past that place the weekend before last, on Saturday evening, and wondered what it was. There was a bit of a queue outside. I’d imagine HHNs at Universal GB will be a Big Thing, and will be a part of the park’s design stage from the outset.

Don't shoot the messenger. Following the US elections MSNBC'S ratings have tanked so Comcast are looking to sell. MSNBC own universal. I have no idea if this will sway the decision.

I just believe until the first dot

USA can have many bad presidents, but Comcast ain't so short term thinkers as to make huge financial decisions based in something that will last 4 years(worst case scenario) moreso with the big influx of money that Universal represents

Do you have a source for this, or is your source just 'trust me bro'?

I just googled MSNBC ratings, and yeah, it showed a drop from 1 million something to 700k viewers, but then the next day was again at 1 million, and I don't believe Comcast will go "hey, we had bad ratings this week, lets sell the company"

So it's just Doug doing his usual thing of finding a small isolated fact and blowing it up into 'they are looking to sell' with no actual source for it.

Good to know.

Well, I mean, there was also plenty of news sites reporting on the "huge drop", so maybe media is blowing it out of proportion too. Ratings change for a gazillion things, but you take quarter average or year average to make conclusions about if something is working or not, not just some isolated date in which they were bad

I'm not taking the Mick. I'm serious. CNN and other news outlets have dropped the ball and the Trump administration is going after them for spreading lies about him.

Nothing to do with the general election in the US. The President of Comcast said at the end of October that they were considering separating their cable TV business in to a separate company, possibly in advance of a sale. Hardly a surprise, those old linear broadcasting companies have struggled with newer ways of consuming content (eg, Paramount and WB/Discovery both have significant write downs of their corporate value in excess of $15Bn). So Comcast are looking at their options, which sounds entirely prudent, but this doesn't include Universal Studios the movie business, nor Universal Destinations and Experiences the theme park business.

Nothing to see here, move along now, move along.

Comcast will end up selling Sky at some point.

They didn’t really want it anyway and they overpaid by billions.

Edit - taken from the universal studios Great Britain FB page pst by James Block.

‘Small Universal Studios Great Britain update.

As a reminder this is info from the Bedford 2040 plan, which is a idea that existed long before USGB was even a concept, the plan was looking at locations around Bedford to create massive new housing developments.’

‘Bedford 2040 is on pause till January to allow for new government and to wait the USGB decision. The reason Universal is mentioned is the location was originally marked as potential for housing pre the Comcast purchase.’

The virtual consultation room link seems to have disappeared, possibly as it was just going to a 404 page pre 10am.

Not sure if anyone is interested.

East West Rail | Consultation 2024

East West Rail's consultation will be open from 14 November 2024 until 24 January 2025. You're invited to take part in our consultation to share your feedback on our proposals.

I’m on the interactive map, looks interesting.

Clear as mud!

Thanks for the link. From the interactive map it looks like there's an option for a new station located within Universal's Transportation Hub. Great for Universal visitors, but sensible for other rail users?

Just had a quick look at EWR's consultation report on route choices and they state that they are aware that Universal is proposing a theme park at Bedford, but currently their proposals do not take in to account Universal's plans. EWR say they are in discussion with Universal.

If Universal go ahead and build the transport hub station then I am curious if the general public would be able to use it.

I think I read to Cambridge it’d be less than 45mins, so that opens up a major transport link for people who might want to commute from the local villages.

Wixams I think is slightly different as that was always planned so anyone will be able to use it for the midland main line to London and up north.

I don't know, man... I find it credible that the board of MSNBC told Doug88 insider information about billions of dollars of company sell offs.
It's Doug88, after all. Known insider of news conglomerates.
