RE: Evil Dead Rise... honestly hope this isn't true lol. I rather get Evil Dead (2013) again since I never got to experience that house and it looked seriously amazing... so hopefully this is a red herring for another Evil Dead movie

Dude it was amazing. The blood effects were so good too. Red mist everywhere lol

yeah, I think it struggled to balance being a "comedy house" and a "scary house." it was fine! some cool sets! but I'm not nostalgic about it.

To be fair, the "feeling old" button goes both ways. Even as a 24 year old; it is still nutty to see people of younger ages.

I'm not gonna lie -- I'm happy there's no maze in the Waterworld queue this year. I don't know what it is about waiting in that line specifically, but it feels more interminable than any other location when you're standing in it, especially in that endless stretch behind the bleachers. In all the years there's been a maze there, I swear I've seen more people give up and get out of line because they've lost all hope than any other, even when the wait is only half as long as others in the park.

That's interesting, I always found that to be one of the fastest moving lines. Also I guess I am hitting it at opportune times thanks to game planning, but even when it's 45 minutes or so and stretching almost to the main walkway, it ends up only being 20 minutes.

It was pretty terrible early on in the run. It got better as it went on, but only slightly above average. It suffered from too many dummies instead of live actors. I remember I rambled about it way too much in my review...

You're probably thinking of Ash vs. Evil Dead. The 2013 Evil Dead house didn't have a lick of comedy in it. And Ash vs. Evil Dead was absolute garbage, one of the worst of the worst HHN mazes.

right. I was gonna say, evil dead 2013 was more a gore fest. whats funny is that both Knotts scary farm and HHN had evil dead tie ins. Knotts in 2012 which was based on the remake but they still put ash in the ride lol Evil Dead Log Ride 2012

One of my least favorite Knotts memories is trying to go on that ride. For context, at that point, I had sworn off going to Scary Farm consistently -- I was really starting to hate it and I had zero desire to go in 2012. Like ZERO... NOTHING and I mean absolutely NOTHING could convince me to go back........except they chose my second favorite horror franchise and my favorite maze venue to be put together. UGH, now I HAVE to go, right? I even convince my cousin to go, who also loves Evil Dead, but he doesn't really care about these events. So we get there and immediately head for the log ride only to see it closed. We ask the guy at the line what's wrong, and he just says...."broken." No other words, just one: "broken." Um, okay. "Is it going to reopen tonight?"
"Nope."
"Uh....well what happened?"
"Broke."
"How?"
"I don't know."
Like dude, I just put all this effort into coming to this event for this ONE MAZE and he is giving me ZERO effort into giving me ANY answers. At this point I am livid and just walk away. Entire rest of the nice was soured and the event sucked like usual (back in those days it was getting BAAAAD). How Knotts could mess up their star IP for the year and have it be broken early in the run with no answers is beyond me. I go home and investigate. Apparently earlier that day, one of the logs toppled on top of another because of bad water levels or something. The ride remained closed for the next few weeks and was maybe open a grand total of two weekends of the event.

I finally was able to just go every other year after that and it has helped me enjoy the event a lot more. It's still not great, but at least it doesn't feel like a chore anymore.

When I got to do the HHN maze in 2013, it wasn't that great either, so imagine my disappointment. Imagine it even further when they did Ash vs. Evil Dead. Imagine when I found out Evil Dead Rise got scrapped. And now imagine, all these years waiting for a proper Evil Dead maze based on the originals, and we're still doing them off the newer IP. C'mon HHN, please!

We have still yet to see a proper house based on the original. Blows my mind.

You thought the 40th anniversary year sucked? 2012-16 was still good years for knotts. They fired all the good creative directors tho now, so the event is lacking as of late. (Also holy crap I was lucky to ride it then)

So I guess the Fast and Furious coaster announcement bumped back the HHN announcement? Murdy seemed to indicate something was imminent. Sorry Orlando.
