I can vouch for that (night time activities at the hotels). Most kids are worn out and want to get out of the sun by 3-4 so the hotels are the place to be at night. From storytelling to dance parties and dinner, I don't think the park will gain much by staying open longer to have night time shows.

They also have seasonal Nighttime Spectaculars like the Red, White, and Boom July 4th or the Kids New Years Eve Fireworks shows. Those get pretty good turnout but I'm not sure how well they'd do nightly, especially compared to the expense of running a nightly spectacular.

Also just for posterity, Flight School is officially down. The space just needs to remove the scrap and junk metal now.

I am curious what they end up using that land for.

One thing I really think they need is a way to enter the water park that is not walking thru the whole park, so a tram of some kind would be nice for hotel guests. But doubt that is the plans.

Yes, honestly we had issues getting to all the hotel activities. I have night owl kids, but we were done with the parks at some point and wanted to go back to the hotel and get dinner. They don't really have sit down places in the park, so if staying at the hotel I think most want to eat back at the hotel.

Given that Sealife is seeming to continue the in-park add-on ticket concept, I don't think the Waterpark is getting an exclusive gate anytime soon. I don't think there is any infrastructure to support a tram either. LLFL is pretty landlocked as is.

The board linked on the last page seems to think it'll be the indoor Space coaster, which would be neat to see. I'm really not sure how big it could be, but I'm pretty sure there is a little bit of room behind the Flight School plot to expand a showbuilding into.

That is why I said I doubt they ever do this, but would be nice for hotel guests.

They need more indoor stuff for those hot days, so this would be a good addition.

Legoland Florida is building an indoor space coaster. Announced to my Legoland employee friends just a few hours ago. The area is currently under construction with foundations going in right now. Permits from the very start of the year show potential for a locker system as opposed to the cubbies that most LL Florida rides use. It's currently being built where Flight School was.

Official announcement on October 3rd, according to the email sent to the employees.

Was the project announced? The only public announcement I could find first was the announcement of a new aquarium attraction.

www.orlandosentinel.com

Legoland Florida building Sea Life aquarium settings, animal lineup

Sea Life Florida Aquarium is taking shape in Winter Haven, where it will be part of the Legoland Florida Resort.
www.orlandosentinel.com www.orlandosentinel.com

I did find something else from last November that teased it and the concept art appears to have a coaster-like structure on the left side. Could also be artistic interpretation given how well everything else is put together here.

Was the coaster part of this project and got scrapped or is it unrelated to this? Legoland California announced plans for a space-themed coaster back in January but I couldn't find something about it for Florida.

Honestly, no it wasn't announced. It's strange to have announced the time of reveal to employees and then completely miss it, but that's the current situation haha.

Having been to the park relatively recently, SeaLife is being added by the very front of the park, and is an enclosed building with just aquariums inside. No coaster there, and the concept art seems like an artistic depiction of some coral or something. There'd be nowhere for a coaster to go up there really. Imagine the aquarium at Icon Park at that's what you can expect from that.

From the entrance to the former Flight School in the very back of the park, you can visibly see foundations and construction work being done for this Space Coaster. It's definitely happening, and it seems like the marketing team wants to get going with it, but we're at a standstill for right now. Maybe after all the hurricane madness quiets down.

Funny Oct 3 still had an announcement but they went with the Sea Life thing instead. There might've been wires crossed between departments. What's weird is it's coming to both parks but I couldn't find any hints about it for Florida specifically and they announced a few things as early as last year.

Yeah, I wasn't sure about the coral coaster. I have no idea what kind of coral they were trying to emulate there. I have been to Sea Life and I'm sure that'll be a great addition.

So still no announcement! But we do have support structures for the showbuilding going up as of 2-3 days ago. Relatively tall building too! Space Coaster is definitely happening.

Taken from outside the resort, so hopefully it's cool to post here. But if there was any doubt on that Space Coaster!

This is incredibly sad but not surprising, I’m hearing that in the UK an insane anount of staff are about to be put up as ‘at risk’. They’re currently doing it per quarter and staff have already been told what quarter they’ll find out.

Entertainment & Marketing are said to be some of hardest hit areas.

Such a shame that theme parks keep cutting entertainment. That's one of the major things that elevate them above the regional coaster parks.

The conventional wisdom is that entertainment doesn't drive turnstile clicks. While that may be true, you need entertainment to provide a full, first-class experience that makes guests want to return.

Exactly. Entertainment will never pay for itself in a park, but its essential for the full experience. Busch Gardens Williamsburg is a prime example. They used to have lots of excellent entertainment. Blackstone cut most of it when they bought the SW chain. BGW attendance dropped a lot and they've never recovered that ground. SW basically turned one of the best theme parks into just another coaster park.

Anecdote time!

A few years ago my youngest son was in maybe 6th grade and we planned a whole entire SeaWorld day. After years of UOR w/ hotel breaks. And even our WDW excursions we did hotel breaks. This was going to be a trek but we only had one day.

1:00-ish, and after a few frustrating things (long lines for food, rides, etc.) he lost it.

We eventually made it our way to "Pets Ahoy" (which I think has since been canceled). And he loved it and was starting to put himself back together.

Then we exited the theater and saw this "Garbage Guys" (my name not theirs) comedy show in the rotunda right outside. It was a bunch of garbage joke us adults all heard before, and a few neat prop comedy bits, but my kid was crying with laughter after it was over.

We were able to eat, ride Mako, Manta, etc a few more times, and he loves the park now. All because of these two shows.

The importance of this type of show and streetmosphere cannot be stressed enough.

i apologize for bringing this back to one of my favorite hobby horses, but this kind of thing is, to me, why disneyland is the best theme park on earth. there is so much to see without ever getting in a queue. you'll see more kinetic action, more streetsmophere, on main street at disneyland than you do at most theme parks. for all my quibbles with the way modern disneyland is run, this remains an example of what a great theme park should do.
