I can't believe what I'm seeing...

Celebrity encounters are part of the magic of the Studio Tour, because you never know who you're going to meet on it! If you've never heard of that celebrity, that's okay. But it is NOT okay to rain on someone else's parade just because suddenly the tour's gonna be longer than you expected. Just sit down and let the fans enjoy seeing their favorite star. Not everyone's a theme park nerd like most of us here.

Never thought I'd hear such complaints here of all places, oi vey...

It’s a studio tour not just a ride

I’m always impressed by what this forum can find to complain about

The point here surely is who these 'celebrities' are?
If I had someone truly famous turn up along the tram tour I would be THRILLED but someone I and more than 50% of the tram won't know or recognise? Appreciate the effort and manners but I'd rather meet some of the crew and see more of how the magic is made.

Honestly, the Studio Tour experience should be that we board the tram, slide down the row, and immediately get off the other side of the tram. Ten seconds tops, that way no one ever has to worry about needing to go to the bathroom or encountering a celebrity they don’t know or stopping for a production they have no clue about.

But seriously, like… I can’t wrap my head around this. “If it’s a celebrity I like and know, then I’m all for the tram stopping for a few extra minutes! But if I don’t know them? Ugh. Pass.” Incredibly selfish, IMO, because even if only 10% of the people on a tram know a celebrity, why shouldn’t they be able to have an experience like this that bolsters their whole day just because you personally don’t know or care about said celebrity? I know a number of people who used to watch Reba and Shameless years ago who would’ve loved to have encountered these two, for instance, and that would’ve made my day seeing them happy even if it doesn’t matter to me.

The Studio Tour isn’t a private VIP experience for you and you alone, and it feels like less and less that any celebrity, regardless of their status, has any interest in interacting with it, but here we are complaining that it finally happened once. If it made even just a handful of people’s day, then it’s worth it, because that’s the whole point. Yet if it had been Spielberg or something, people would be cheering instead of complaining despite the fact none of those same people would stop to see the irony that suddenly they don’t care about the guests on that tram who would still absolutely not care (or possibly even understand), either.

Okay, but we all realize that most would be thrilled at something like this? I can't believe some of you are really complaining about a celebrity encounter at a park that is literally about Hollywood film and TV.

I mean, sometimes you spend an extra 15 minutes just waiting to get the tram into King Kong and F&F... so chill

Funny story: opening day, Universal Florida -- we were in line for the (then) Hanna-Barbera ride and the line wasn't moving. Since nothing else was working we wondered if this broke too. My friend said "I see someone up there with a Universal hat. I'll ask them" and jumped out of the queue. A few minutes later he returned, looking white. "The ride is running," he said, "and that was Steven Spielberg" :D

When my show comes back next season and the tours pass my stage feel free to shoutout and I’ll let you know everything about lighting haha :) As a crew member, I do appreciate that perspective, actually.

So, I guess when a celebrity is spotted, the guide should take a vote if the tram should stop for them? Come on, man.

Even if a particular celeb isn't to your taste, it's going to make someone else's day. I don't think there's any harm done here.

Well, I will tell you this… tour guides are instructed not to point out celebrities if they are spotted on the tram route. We had a fire drill when I worked American Auto so we were all standing outside the stage, including the stars of the show, and the tour guide mentioned our show and Ana Gasteyer… when she was standing right next to the tram but never acknowledged that she was right there.

This case is scripted (obviously improv is involved and wasn’t done well) and planned as a promotion for Happy’s Place for NBC and they wanted a viral moment to get some buzz around their show.

I literally don’t even know these actors but part of what makes taking the tour special is for random moments like that. You might see a celebrity—even one you don’t know—you might catch a glimpse of a big stunt or action sequence being filmed for a tentpole movie. Trust me when I say most folks aren’t like us who ride the tram. Even if they didn’t know them, I can guarantee they were looking them up on their phones, taking photos and telling friends and family that “so-and-so” took over our tram. And that’s the allure of it for most people, I’d venture to say.

Just my two cents on the matter, obviously. And let’s not forget this is just one tour that was affected, out of the 100+ they run a day. I am surprised the discussion got that deep on this.

I know many will say no because its from a Rated R show/movie but.....it would be cool if they could add Ted to the Tram as an Animatronics. The show I think its pretty funny and that fact its filmed on the sets here....many of which you can see on the show if you've gone on the tour.

Just feels like something that would be nice to have, also since they normally they focus on only the films with the "attractions" on the tram would be cool to see something from TV highlighted

Yeah the Tram as a whole slightly traumatized me as a kid. LOL

Since we’re on the topic of Kong, with how the theme park industry as a whole is shifting away from 3D, I wonder how long it will be before they axe 3D from the Tour completely and we get a practical Long again? 360 3D was meant to be a quick-fix in response to the fire under the Kurtz era.
