Someone on the Reddit thread about this said it looks like a Super Bowl ad, and I think that's kinda all that has to be said about this. It's gonna be the most profitable video game movie adaptation ever anyways though.

Because they were scared of competing with Minecraft: Story Mode if they decided to just make it animated completely.

I have the opposite feeling. I feel like it's gonna surprise everyone with being good
