I have to say that it was a great idea to use the carousel as the centerpiece for the park. I’m not even just talking about the ride itself (which I’ve only seen positive reviews for so far). I just mean how cool the building is.

In my mind, that building is an unofficial icon of the park. Does anyone know if there’s carousel merchandise yet?

I didn't realize every light in Celestial is network linked programmable RGB light. Some pretty cool effects along and transitions could be done with this for the nighttime shows and events like Christmas, New Years, etc. The video just shows them cycling RGB diodes for a test, but I didn't realize they went through that much trouble with lighting across the board.

SAME!! I think this is the first merch I’ve seen that is an immediate must have! I hope they’ll also have him as a character you can meet…..

We were just talking about this— how much “story” and background they’ve created with original characters. The fact that Moonship has its own character merchandise. I wonder how much will resonate and “catch on” with guests, and how much fades into obscurity.

How long do people in Celestial Park keep saying “welcome travelers” as a standard greeting? Will the musicians telling the story of Celestial Park last much beyond the first year? Lots of great details, but how long until budget cuts and lack of commitment to preserving the story take hold?

I really don’t want to sound pessimistic, I’m just a realist about the practicalities of running a theme park and looking at the track record of even the best parks in these aspects.

I wonder if these elements would get "locked in" if they incorporated the characters and story into a family friendly Celestial Journey dark ride, so it has a "permanent" presence. This would make the merch and employee behavior/training grounded to something physical. I'm thinking something like the original Knott's Bear-y Tales, which was just amazing.

I know it’s rumored to eventually be an event center/theatre, but the expansion plot near the front entrance before Super Nintendo World is absolutely big enough to fit a SLOP style dark ride that’s Celestial Park themed. Thats my dream, won’t happen, but I can pray.

It'll probably depend on how much people respond to the original characters. I can't think of a non-HHN original UC character that approaches Figment levels of popularity.

I think it's borderline impossible to get a character from a theme park alone to catch on as much as Figment. He's an anomaly in regards with how he's resonated with audiences at the park for all these years. Not even an individual Country Bear or Haunted Mansion ghoul has caught on like he has.

Now, is UC more likely to make a Celestial Park ride than Disney is to invest in Figment? Yeah. And I think that's all that matters, if there's a drive within UC to expand on it and audiences respond to it, then anything is possible. I certainly hope so.

Write a good story, provide a quality experience, and any Celestial ride will succeed with people of taste. A Celestial park original can be built as if it were already the greatest IP in the world because its affords them nothing to do otherwise. If Universal thinks they can elevate our connections to proven IPs, they should feel equally confident that they can create a meaningful connection between us and any new ideas they put in the effort to craft.

I wouldn't be so pessimistic. The reason universal studios is nicer to just hang out in compared to IOA is because you can walk 5 mins and potentially come cross 4 live performance.

Beat builder's, Marilyn, blues brothers, that acapella thing.

Universal has made their stance on live entertainment quite clear and been consistent enough in recent memory where a pessimistic view on entertainment cuts at epic Universe would not be my go to stance.

Has Earl ever shown up in IOA? I've never traveled during the holidays but I always assumed he was mostly a USF/Citywalk thing.

On the topic of an original Celestial Park attraction, though- I would love to see it. That would have to be the first original attraction in a theme park since.. what? Expedition Everest?

I've accepted the idea that Celestial Park is the spiritual successor to Lost Continent right down to the dual coasters. Instead of being a small part of the whole like IOA it's the centerpiece that holds the park together at EU.

I definitely want a dark ride to come along for this world.

He's been seen during the holiday scavenger hunt in both parks and CityWalk so he's not limited to USF.

I see comparisons of Celestial Park characters like Captain Cacao to Figment. But since Figment got his launch in an attraction (unlike the Celestial Park characters), wouldn't a more analogous comparison be Duffy the Disney Bear? Created by Imagineering and essentially launched in a gift shop in Tokyo DisneySea, a similar origin. Also, at least as far as Captain Cacao and Duffy...they're both bears.

I’ve not seen one review for Constellation Carousel’s. Early obviously, but is it operating? If this has a good score and cool scenery it’d be a nice start to each day here and I don’t even do carousel’s.

Sort of the raison d'être for a carousel in the opening area of a park, isn't it? Be cute, give littler kids something to ride. If anything, hope it shows they're avoiding the IoA mistake of making everything an E-ticket.
